Nope, it's made of traditional methods of paint, cheesecloth and cement joint compound!

This is actually part of two traditional art pieces that I was working on, combined in photoshop but as for the gauze itself- it's really cheesecloth and I put it on wood and used a joint compound sealant mixed with some paints/glue and other stuff to secure it to the wood. I didn't like how bright white it was so I used a mixture of wood glue, water and a little leftover paint from something that ^allhopeislost was working on and got the right color.
He photographed these for me and this is the end result
