Description Finally! Got my first scanner ever! The drawings are now much clearer than when I tried to import them via a camera in Photoshop, so I didn't waste my breath trying to do some work on them. But now is a different story. So 2 days ago, after scanning some stuff I drew over the years, I sat enthusiastically by my PC and looked for tutorials on coloring and shading of drawings. These 2 were especially helpful to me:
For color: youtu.be/nqZ74hftX6k (charming fellow)
For color AND shading: youtu.be/U7aSs38aLt0

Now, I may be new to this, but that's all the more reason for me to learn the correct and best way to convey these drawings to you, my dear fellow deviants. So please, give me some advice on how to improve the coloring and shading procedure.

About the drawing:
This one I drew while in high school (quite a while ago). I draw guys as a way to compensate not being able to express my sexuality for fear of being abhorred and ostracized... Also, this was during a time when I barely DARED to draw a single hand clenched in a fist, so go easy on my drawing skills. Just focus on coloring and shading, please, thank you. ^^

Note:
The gray dirt on his skin is... Well, dirt. xD As I said, this was drawn some 10 years ago, and I went through heaven and hell to conceal this from nosy people. If there is an easy way of removing this, I'll appreciate the info.

I have NO digital coloring advice but wanted to say this came out quite nicely for a first attempt. One advice that I be learned since working with a scanner is to try as much as possible to try and draw with the end result in mind! If you'll be doing simple (cel) shading for instance, tht will affect how many lines to put down on the paper; I still haven't mastered the mindset so I've never been comfortable doing a pure line drawing. Good luck Maedrhos!

I kinda get what you mean with having the end result in mind, but the problem is, as you said, getting into the right mindset. I'll certainly give my best.

An as usual, you're too kind.
