Description
Charles-Pierre Baudelaire (Once said...)Get Drunk!
One should always be drunk. That's all that matters;
that's our one imperative need. So as not to feel Time's
horrible burden one which breaks your shoulders and bows
you down, you must get drunk without cease.
But with what?
With wine, poetry, or virtue
as you choose.
But get drunk.
And if, at some time, on steps of a palace,
in the green grass of a ditch,
in the bleak solitude of your room,
you are waking and the drunkenness has already abated,
ask the wind, the wave, the stars, the clock,
all that which flees,
all that which groans,
all that which rolls,
all that which sings,
all that which speaks,
ask them, what time it is;
and the wind, the wave, the stars, the birds, and the clock,
they will all reply:
"It is time to get drunk!
So that you may not be the martyred slaves of Time,
get drunk, get drunk,
and never pause for rest!
With wine, poetry, or virtue,
as you choose!"
~
A footnote to this, at some point in the shoot the glass cracked and blew, and the whole freakin table caught fire. We almost took another long-exposure shot when it happened.

yeah i like yours as well!
thing is, i made the mistake of not filling it to the very brim when i lit it, and so after a couple takes the glass litterally blew up.. you can see the crack in the shot, which was just before it blew.. heh

Absinthe is one drink I have not tried yet but a club has opened up here where they serve it. I will have to go and try it, and hopefully not burn my lips off!
Cool shot!

~IdanAriel , while in college once called me up, having concluded that You know you're drink when you find yourself considering the logistics of killing your room-mate in his sleep.

I've had similar lines of reasoning after a couple of gin martinis. *grin*
Love your signature. I don't like fabric softener, either, but I thought it was because I hated the fake, harsh smell that (due to my poor college days) I can only now equate with very low-rent apartment living. But now I wonder if I'm secretly Goth and just didn't know it.

YAY!! I've been drunk!
I accept this award on behalf of all those who've tasted the sweet nectar of lighter fluid at some point.
I'll be "watching you".

Yup. I was there the night the waitress said "this stuff in the middle of the scorpion bowl is rum." YEAH RIGHT. It was lighter fluid. You poor darling, no wonder you tossed your salad.

The colours in that flame are amazing and as mesmerizing as real fire. o.o
I burst out laughing when I read that bit about the table catching fire. XD You really should've taken a picture of that. I would've loved to see what the colours looked like.
This picture gets my love.

I really, really like this. However, since this is technically a critique box, here is my official .02 cents: The cropping is a tiny bit too tight on the top; I really would have liked to see the top of the flame. Great job overall, though.

I agree with you on that.
I've several other takes where the flame was lower, yet not as slender. one even looks like an explosion. Its the thing about these sort of shots you take, you really have no idea what a 2 minute exposure of a flame will look like until you develop it, then hope for the best.
In highschool i used to take random closeup shots of fires, and see what shapes they'd hold. Like a water-ripple full of visions
