i dunno, i just can't bring myself to like the sections of her body that are stone white in color, once she gets a bit of color to her she gets those lovely freckles and looks a lot more alive and real to me.

Wow. You don't think it takes talent and artistic ability to produce what you are looking at here? I didn't see any portrait photography in your gallery. I would love to see you attempt to produce something similar in quality to what Trixie and Darkmatterzone are doing here. I shoot photography as well, but I have never been able to come close to the quality that Darmatterzone has. I could only wish. Your opinions and criticism are welcome here, but before you put it down try it for yourself. Portrait and fashion photography are the most difficult varieties of photography you could every be lucky enough to shoot.

I don't do photos because I find photography not potent enough to release the "art beast" in me, so to speak. While you might defend that everywhich way, it still stands that lots of those favs are received by males who like the portrait of a female in a suggestive pose in a purely sexual way. That of course has nothing to do with art.

i can understand why you say that but consider this...
...look how many deviations have been submitted so far..... well over 6,300,000 so far...
...i wonder how many hundreds of thousands of those deviations are crap... those things on legal lined paper or brown paper bags of smudges & stick figures & scribbles? You know the stuff i mean, one sees them every day. Now i have to say that much of that and many of the photos of people's driveways and the blacktop of a street and a blurred shot of someone's child moving just outside of center view can't possibly be considered art in any stretch of the imagination, i'm sure you and many other members would agree, and there would be some who would beg to differ. Much of what many of us submit has taken alot of work, hours, grief, inspiration, and we do what we do to share what & who we are and hope that we can make a difference.
i say all of that to say this... the photo here in question is of course not a moonlit sculpture in flesh but somewhere there must be something to be said of the attempt by the photographer to inspire. In fact, i see many replies of inspiration indeed! Oh you think because something is considered 'sexy' it can't be deemed art? If one muses ecstasy over a majestic photo or painting of natural granduer then that lessens the merits of artistic integrity? *omg i'm on a roll here*
Well i'm not trying to be hard on your opinion, that's the beauty of why deviantArt exists: artists for art's sake and perhaps visa versa, and the free spirit in which we are encouraged to engage in constructive criticism. So as i said at the start, i understand why you said what you did.
What i so enjoy is the model's alabaster skin, at least where the sun has not had the chance to blush & freckle the girl. That's all from me... and that's enough!

well art is the imitation of life... whats more, art is unique.
in the picture there is a girl and the picture is taken by a digital camera.
so we have nature and technology that did the actual job. the guy did nothing besides collecting the credit. shit i can go and take a picture of a prettier girl pulling her panties. i might even use a more expensive digital camera to take a better resolution image. anyone can do it. therefore its not art. just a waste of time. goodbye deviantart front page, hello oblivion.

So the Photogorapher has nothing to do with heloping select the best ose, or Has nothing to do with the selevtiong of teh Scene Behind the model, Oh and have you ever tried to get decent lighting...You can have the most beautiful model in the world with the most expensive digital camera on the market and every photo you take will look like crap if you don't bother to work with the lighting...I really find it to be insulting that people whom have never posted photography art are the ones who always voice negative opinions of it...

...i don't think art imitates anything.... you yourself speak of uniqueness. It's only we humans that we know of at least here on 3rd rock from the sun that take something of ourselves and apply it to new creations such as architecture, paintings, sculptures, music, and literature.... all an artform unto itself.
If someone has a digital camera and a model and provides an image, that too is unique. i went to that person's gallery after i wrote to you initially and found myself enjoying other selections even moreso than the one that brought me to that person in the first place, and you. It's what's pleasing to a sensory pallet, like wine is to taste, as food is to ofactory, and it doesn't always have to make a profound statement. If this particular member provides 'eye candy' and shows the attempt to do so in an exceptional way (yes, exception is in the eye of the beholder) then it can be considered artistic. Just cause it seems that the images came easy to him doesn't lessen the effort or the worthiness of his work as possible art.
Ah i knew my day had gone well otherwise i normally wouldn't be spending so much time & words defending art let alone a singular member who doesn't even know me from beans, but i must think it's worth it otherwise i'd be enjoying this lovely Friday evening. There's alot of art that has nothing to do with life as we know it. i know well the saying and i don't happen to agree. If anything, art improves on life and/or how we perceive it. It tears down conventions. People have been persecuted for daring to break free of the confines of social conventions. i cheer those who went before us to make possible the freedom to do so as a birthright.
