Description
Haha, here we are again. No photomanipulation, save burning out some of the smoke.I achieved the weird effect by the long exposure and moving the camera (on purpose) slightly. Yeah well.
Taken at the Royal Adelaide Show.
Hope you like it.
Edit: Sorry I had to resubmit, but ~THEprophetMOSES made the astute observation that, on others monitors with a different contrast, the sky was screwy. Thanks for letting me know, Matt!

Great piece! I wouldn't have guessed it was a photo without looking at the category and description...

Ha haaaa, I made fireworks with shaky hands too, and they came out surpisingly well! Cool star!

That's rather cool, reminds me of the old windows screensavers (or was it the apple macs? can't remember, oh well) nice pic anyway.

Very cool idea, and a very nice shot! When I saw the thumb from AfC, I thought it was some sort of jellyfish, lol.

Haha, a lot of people have thought that too. That's why I like it as well.

Ya know, I just saw a TV show on those Box Jellyfish you all have in Au. This does kind of resemble those except this has really cool colors. I dont think this can kill you either.

Thanks very much. I suppose a flower is far more attractive than a jelly-fish, which is what I thought when I saw it.

interesting interaction between the white/yellow/reds of the firework to the sky. might have been a more effective design if you caught multiple ones in flight but i think the way it floats lazily in the black is great.

I do wish I'd gotten a few more fireworks in the flame, but it's so hard control when you don't actually know what's going to happen, and when you've set up for a limited exposure.
By the way, are you coming to the devmeet?

That's awesome, almost like a fractal. Good composition, and colour mixes also.

It appears akin to a beautifully-decorated but lazily-tied hair bun. You've achieved a somewhat ethereal effect, here, what with the motion of your camera; a wonderfully unique approach to what is far too often a sort of shot approached with little innovation in-mind.

Hahah, I like your interpretation. When I first opened it on the computer it reminded me of one of those deep-sea jellyfish which one might find on a David Attenborough show, you know? I cetainly had a lot of fun taking them once I figured that not having a tripod could be used to my advantage.

Better than my fireworks pic from the show [link] I really wasn't happy with many of my show pics, but I wasn't using my own camera so that was 1/2 the prob. The only pic I was really happy with was "Squidgie" [link] Posted a couple of others but not really that happy with them

I think for yours it'd be cooler if you had a longer exposure. That's how I got mine to work.
