Description
EDIT: Fixed her epxression and some minor tweek.Real quick sketch I did during lunch time at work...just trying to do the set up, how and what to do...
This is OC, so copyright for the character goes to her
In the short description, if she's trialed and burned it's likely they shaved her hair, I also went with a wirey frame and more prononced feature since she's described as skinny

Poor witch...she looks so scared and harmed...Great drawing, you depicted the scene of burning perfectly

Wow, you made this during a lunchbreak? (hope you still came to eat something) ... I love it, it is really wonderful (and also a perfect example why i love sketches/linearts so much ... ) - it manages to focus on what is most important
I like all the small details you've added from the story/oc page - like the tears, the swollen right eye and the bruise at her forehead from the stone that hit her. And the simple dress with the cord at the neckline and the flame and sparks.
What also came as a shock is how drastical different and miserable she looks with her hair shaved (especially compared for example on the "story time" sketch [link] ) ... just short cut hair might make her look more cute, but after all the image should not be cute, but cruel, shocking, and morbid so this perfect and adds very much to the mood (and might also be historical more correct)
The only thing I am not sure about is her facial expression ... she looks somehow .... too calm, maybe even angry like cursing the spectators ... as she is no witch turning them all into newts, but an innocent peasant girl, it might be better if she looked frightend, or in panic, pain and agony ... if you want I can send you some reference images that might be useful
Thank you so much

Wow...thanks for such praise...I honnestly did not intend for it to be the final result and redid her expression after reading your comment...I'll try and upload the edited version soon enough...Heretic were to have their head shaved during both the inquisition and various witch hunt in Europe. Shaved head was also a sign to stigmatise and attract scorning from the people.
Would you wish for a more detailed sketch, or perhaps something with a little color...I would feel like letting someone down handing them a simple sketch (except if that's what you really wish for obviously )
The edited version will be uploaded on top of this one
And yes I did eat

Thank you so much
It is interesting how such small changes on the lips and eyebrowns can change the complete expression of a character. She now looks much more scared and frightend
And the shaved head really adds something special to the image ...
I would love to have a more detailed sketch (or even something in color (or a rendering ) - fire, smoke and sparks look much more intense in color ... but fire is horrible hard to draw).
Possible enhancement suggestions ... she should be tied up a little more (rope around the neck, chain around the chest), her cloth could be more ragged/torn, her head not completely clean shaved but her hair just cut of with a knife leaving some tattered short remains of hair on some places. And maybe even some background (the top of the pyre could be visible to see were the flames come from, the ladder attached to the front, some medieval houses in the background) ... but I feel a bit bad making such extreme complicated requests for a free artwork

Ropes and chains are really in the fantasy setting since historically they would simply bind the witch around the waist or tie the wrist to the pyre pole (at least that's what my occultism and history book say ) However I'm not one to go for ultra realism
I'll start from my sketch and adds some details as I go on, backgrounds aren't my forte but I'll do my best. I'm one that consider that commission are commission, no matter if they are paid or not, hence even my paying one are very cheap.
I'll keep into the traditional media and probably play with a mix of marker, ink and watercolor.

Not entirely sure what is historical correct (I am old, but not that old, and my history books go not that much into detail ), but just hands behind the stake seems not enough ... I would simply kick/push the the wood away (not to mention the poor guards try to tie me there), so at least the ankels need to be tied to the stake. And as rope is usually not fireproof, at least not for longer times just a single point also seems risky (it is a dangerous witch after all) ... But Chains are on the other hand pretty expensive (not to mention horrible hard to draw) ... perhas we can agree on a rope around her legs and waist
I look forward to the next version
