I don't know about 'yall, but that redemption thing at the end of Equestria Girls was just horrible. If it were up to me it would have been something like this. Now I'm not much of a comic artist, but I hope I conveyed the idea well enough.EDIT: I am frequently getting the comment: The chains are too dark. Or This would be better without the chains. Or I don't think the chains are appropriate. Now, I'm not really a good person to say what is or is not appropriate, but are you guys seriously being irked by chains? CHAINS? It's a commonly used restraining device. You know those links between hand cuffs? CHAINS. I'm not about to judge any of you, but I just don't understand how this would be considered inappropriate.
The second panel is set up to be DARK and MOODY to lead up to the emotional aspect of the following panels. I'm glad some of you are getting that dark feeling but I can't help but find it silly to be off put by chains. How would you have me restrain her? Word of mouth? Regular jail bars? This isn't a question of morality, but one of restraining a potent magic user. A former student of Celestia.
Also it isn't explicitly stated but she is only in there for a few hours before they come in. You guys are letting your imagination over react
Again I'm just a little confused.

It is rather odd that people are reacting negatively to chains. But, eh, everyone to their own. I, for one, actually really like the chains; to me are symbolic of the darkness that was making Sunset act the way she was. You did a great job!

I think it would have been better if Sunset were brought back to face trial, if only for the Celestiangst that would have followed her claiming that it was revenge for her old teacher's 'betrayal'.

Also why chain her neck to begin with? Is it some sort of magic ccllar shackle that stops her from using magic? Why wouldn't they just have bars enchanted to do that to account for a unicorn with a thicker or thinner neck? or a door? Or why not simply have guards surrounding her? It just feels really excessive.

Magic-stopping restraint? Yes, it is.
It's anything but excessive. The only thing making it wrong to you is the thought of it being demeaning to her.
I tell you that she is an animal. And although the ponies mix their animal ways with human ones, they still do things like wear saddles and eat grass.
Wearing a saddle is dehumanizing, yet a pony wearing a collar is what bothers you? Humans wear collars as fashion statements. I myself find them endearing.
And of course I'm implying she is such a threat that they need to limit her ability to move. She is in a jail cell after all! Rest assured that it is an adjustable leather collar, a metal collar is harmful to the skin, in addition, the chain gives maneuverability throughout the cell, within a few feet of the door.
Ponies are anything but unaccommodating. Try and assume the best!

I dunno bout other folks but if someone put a collar around my neck and chained me to the floor I'd probably get some emotional whiplash out of suddenly being forgiven.
Β A cell yes, but chaining her down implies they think she is such a threat that they need to limit her ability to move as well. Not to mention that a collar is very symbolic of dehumanising(de-ponyising?) You're essentially implying you feel they are an animal.
So yeah sorry mate but for me? This comic completely didn't work.

The chains are a metaphor, guys, expressing the dark sorrow of her soul. Without them, this piece would be empty and incomplete.

I am still left wondering where the human world Sunset Shimmer is. They explained that Twilight's doppelganger actually lives in the city, but does indeed exist and has a dog named Spike.

Maybe... but this was no Luna who grew bitter because she was wronged for years, or a spirit of chaos who went totally over the top without really realizing what he was doing to others. No, this was a manipulative bitch who has always hurt others to get her own way. That sudden teary heel-faced turn came totally out of nowhere, and was absolutely not believable.

This is always better in the series "Kung Fu Panda Legend of Awesomeness". In it there are so many tragic villain that I naturally ask: it costs so much to them make redeem someone?Β The bad guys that are really bad in that series, are too few.

This would have been a PERFECT ending. The only reason I could see them not doing this is because they wouldn't want to make any canon decisions which would effect the later seasons of MLP in this movie. This way they dont have to physically encounter Sunset again

Already. They could not take direct decisions in the fourth season because they did not know if we would have liked Sunset Shimmer or not. But from the fifth season then they might consider the idea to get her back somehow.

I bet if she were hoof-cuffed (oh god I just said hoof-cuffed, why, why) it wouldn't be "too dark." It's pretty common to hobble horses by tying their legs up so they don't wander off.
