Description One of my roommates at the con I went to had cosplayed the Batter and Zacharie, so I felt like sketching them again. I got a bit carried away though...

I have a couple of comics lined up that I've been working on, and one of them will be released soon(I hope). It's just been taking awhile because I'm indecisive about coloring and I haven't had as much time to work digitally(which is how I color everything now) as I do traditionally. If I'm honest, I have tons of sketches that never made it here because of that same reason...

This looks really cool! It almost looks like you drew this with charcoal *w*

I'm glad you think so, though I have to say it wasn't nearly as messy as actually drawing it with charcoal would've been XD

Tis always the trouble with charcoal; it gets on everything -_-
I don't really work with it super often because of that, but when I can find a good workspace(and storage) for it, I do have a lot of fun with it. I like that it's easier to do subtractive stuff compared to graphite.

Yup. That's true. It's really fun and interesting to draw with charcoal, but either I'm uncapable of using charcoal right or what, but I just don't like how "unclean" a charcoal drawing looks. If I want to draw something a little bit wilder, charcoal is completely fine.

Do you use one type of charcoal, or have you tried using the different soft/hard variations? Hard compressed charcoal is a bit less messy, but I like using a mix. Having a kneaded eraser also helps with cleanup since you can shape it to your needs, and it's self cleaning. I also generally prefer willow stick charcoal for finer details because it works more like a self-sharpening pencil.

I would try to show examples, but All of my charcoal work is pretty big and I haven't been able to get good pics of them. The only one I have here on DA is still a really blurry camera pic, so it doesn't really show well. But hey, if you want to see it anyway: Skull Koi

Ah, yes, that makes sense. I actually never really thought about looking at the different strentgh (is that what you call it?) of those charcoal pencils. I should go and visit such a shop again and try to look for what suits me best - thank you for that, by the way.

Uh that looks really great. That's what charcoal is good for!
