I don't believe God looks like a man, is a he or she, or is constrained to humans standards.

It would seem to me, the God is a force that we do not understand, yet controls reality.

The reason why God is called father, is sound and proper, because just as a father back in the old world was head of the household, as an analogy, God is referred to as our ONLY spiritual father.

Yet, God is also, the ALL-FATHER, since he created you, AND you biological father.

So in this sense, he is your father in every way.

The reason God isn't called mother, is because Jesus, and others obviously wanted to convey the idea of God in familiar terms, and during those times, the father usually was the one providing for, and protecting the family.

Also the term mother, was usually used in regards to nature, and graceful natural things, such as the popular term, "mother nature".

On a personal note, I like to view metaphorically, God as the creator to all things, and nature, physics, and the natural world, as his bride.
