THE BEHEMOTH: from the Mist

REALM/HABITAT: Todash Space & the Inter-dimensional Wasteland. Maine via Project Arrowhead, opening up a giant rip in the Todash Space dimension.

MEDIA ORIGIN: The 1980 book the Mist & the 2007 film adaptation of the same title.

In terms of speculative evolution...

Behemoth is a giant dinosaur-sized Insectoid "Vaporoid" (creatures that live in the bio-vapors of the MIST.)

Behemoth not only comes from Todash Space, but is seen in a ruined region of post-dimensional space called the Wastelands, where an ancient civilization once created nightmare creatures of war through biological means.

This is spoken about in the Dark Tower series.

It is surmised that Behemoth evolved from much smaller species, but as newer predatory species evolved alongside of it, it began to grow in size, to a point where it became so large, it evaded most predators.

It has low-hanging tentacles, that sense the thickness and slight fluidity of the mist, using it as a location guide to reach more plentiful hunting grounds.

According to the late great concept artist and comic creator Bernie Wrightson, these creatures may look like insects, but have a massive thick and strong skeletal structure inside, giving them the support they need to grow to massive sizes!

Concept artists that worked on Behemoth for the film, portray it as a predator of smaller creatures, which it eats in almost filter-feeding fashion, but more in tune with the way a Jellyfish or Man-of-War does.

It is also toxic and poisonous, as witnesses of the Wasteland versions, say it releases a black smoldering smoke of toxic gas from its underside, which can then use to paralyze smaller creatures unfortunate enough to get caught under it.

This venomous smoke, seems to be made by the poison of the Scorpion Flies that make nests under its massing hanging tendrils.

In "Viscous Season", a time when the Mist becomes particularly thick, due to airborne enzymes, reacting to the quivering of the borders of Todash Space, Pterobuzzards swarm Behemoths, in hordes, as they try to eat the Scorpion Flies resting under the Behemoths belly.

As many other Todash Space denizens have, the Behemoth evolved a multitude of defenses and survival strategies, one was to grow to an immense size.

Even acidic Grey Widower spiders and Horrorpedes, rush away, when they hear the thundering of Behemoths, since just one of these massive creatures could literally stomp out their nests accidentally.

According to actor Idris Elba, when working on the Dark Tower film, he mentions that the Behemoths have a juvenile stage, before they grow their massive stalked legs.

In this eft-stage they are still still about the size of a Humpback Whale and slide around with huge leg stumps like slugs, eating anything that moves around them with 3 different sets of very long tendrils.

This may be akin to the many concept sketches form the Kingverse films. And he is sure, that it is from the juvenile Behemoths that the "Tentacles from Planet X" come from.

Though these come from random conversations on the studio set, can't be substantiated, but as it comes from the people involved with the films, it has some credibility.

The Behemoth (also known as "The Impossibly Tall Creature") is a gigantic, six-legged creature encountered by the escapees from the grocery store, while driving through the Mist.

The Behemoth never harms any living thing and doesn't appear to be hostile in nature, but it is said to be larger than anything that ever lived on Earth.

Its lack of hostility could be due to its sheer size - it simply does not notice anything beneath it.

Its very size is a hazard and it frightened the survivors into thinking that there was nothing any better ahead of them.

The Behemoth passes directly over David's Scout Ranger, while the Scout is driving through the Mist.

The creature's exact size is never specified, but it has six massive legs.

The Behemoth's legs have hundreds of Scorpion Flies attached to them, and slaty-grey skin mottled in places to dark brown, but apart from that, the creature is unseen.

David gets an impression that the Behemoth's size would make a blue whale resemble a trout and also dwarf the largest dinosaur.

Its weight is sufficient to leave footprints the size of large SUVs in solid concrete.

It seems to be larger than the Film version.

The Behemoth has six double-jointed legs, each about 18 feet tall, hundreds of multiple-jointed appendages on its underside, and tentacles above its head.

The Behemoth's size is estimated at over 240 feet, larger than anything that ever lived on earth.

REMARKS:

The Behemoth is by far the largest creature seen in either the novella or the film.

Originally, the Behemoth was cut from the film adaption, but the director, was later convinced by the special effects crew to put it back in.

Some fans believe that the Behemoth is the creature which the tentacles from Planet X are attached to.

However, this is very unlikely, as the Behemoth only has tentacles on its underside and above its head, and even then, these tentacles are not near long enough to grab human victims that are at ground level.

That and the people in the supermarket would have heard the creature coming.

In the film adaption, in place of the hundreds of Scorpion-Flies clinging to its legs in the novella, the Behemoth has a more scattered swarm of small, winged creatures flying around its underside.

It is unknown if they are related to Pterobuzzards or not.

It is possible to suggest that the Behemoth is a Scorpion Fly Queen, due to their similar appearance, both are hexapods, and have a similar body shape, Scorpion Flies are mentioned to cover the massive legs of the Behemoth in the novella, suggesting either a possible Mutalistic relationship or the aforementioned hive lifestyle.

TITAN BEHEMOTH: from the MONSTERVERSE

REALM/HABITAT: The Amazon Rainforest.

MEDIA ORIGIN: 2019 film Godzilla: King of the Monsters

In terms of speculative evolution...

Behemoth not only looks like a giant ground sloth and a mammoth, but also a prehistoric Chalicothere, a type of weird horse, that walked on its hooves with claws aimed up like a gorilla.

Behemoth a Titan who first appeared in the 2019

One of many Titans awakened by Ghidorah's call, Behemoth attacked Rio de Janeiro under the evil Titan's command before traveling to Boston with the others.

With Godzilla having defeated Ghidorah, Behemoth and the other Titans proceeded to submit to Godzilla as the new alpha Titan.

Behemoth established his own territory in the Amazon rainforest, where he was attacked by the Titan Amhuluk.

However, Godzilla soon arrived and convinced Amhuluk to leave, restoring Behemoth's claim to his territory.

Behemoth is named after the beast mentioned n the Bible, which is interpreted often as either referring to a mythical creature, or a large animal such as an elephant or rhinoceros.

 Behemoth's alternative name is Mapinguary.

Behemoth was originally conceptualized as a giant mammoth, with tusks on his lower jaw similar to a Deinotherium and wood-like protrusions on his legs.

Eventually, this design was discarded in favor of making the creature more like a giant sloth, although the mammoth-like tusks were retained.

According to director, at one point, we considered adding massive cuffs and broken chains around his limbs to hint that he was once captured and used as a warbeast by some ancient society."

Footage of the Castle Bravo set shows that he was originally meant to emerge in Mexico.

Behemoth was considered for a cameo in Godzilla VS Kong.

According to screenwriter Eric Pearson, "The idea was to have liquored-up, good ol' boys going out with shotguns to hunt one of the tamer Titans.

Then they got crushed by a woolly mammoth thing."

Nonetheless, he was included in the Godzilla vs. Kong toyline.

Behemoth is a mammalian creature resembling a giant sloth.

He knuckle-walks like an ape using his long and muscular forelimbs which are larger than his hind legs.

Mammoth-like tusks jut downward from his cheeks.

Behemoth is covered in light brown fur and appears to have greenish vines or algae growing on his otherwise gray tusks.

Behemoth possesses a row of bumpy triangular spikes running along his back, which Monarch describes as being made of "unbreakable granite fortified with metal and ore."

Monarch classifies Behemoth's behavior as that of a "protector,". He is a herbivore.

Behemoth was discovered by Monarch in Brazil, and an outpost was constructed around him.

A Monarch agent named Mariko states, "There are cave paintings of him that are twelve thousand years old."

REMARKS:

Behemoth was among the many Titans awakened from his slumber in Brazil by King Ghidorah's call.

He attacked Rio de Janeiro before making his way to Boston along with Methuselah, Scylla, the Queen MUTO, and a flock of Skull Island Leafwings.

There, they found the alpha they were following, Ghidorah, slain at the hands of Godzilla.

Rodan approached Godzilla to challenge him, but was intimidated by his gaze and ultimately submitted.

The other Titans all followed suit, each "bowing" in their own way to the new King of the Monsters.

News outlets reported afterward that Behemoth's trail of destruction had begun to restore clear-cut parts of the Amazon rainforest.

Behemoth possesses two large tusks protruding from his face, similar to a woolly mammoth. He uses these large tusks to destroy structures in his path and bludgeon other Titans.

Behemoth's radiation can restore the jungles he passes through. After Godzilla took command of the Titans in Boston, he used this ability on the Amazon rainforest, with areas of the Amazon damaged by clear-cutting undergoing rapid regrowth.

Monarch describes Behemoth as "bio-seismic."

Monarch attacked Behemoth with a jet of blue-white fire emitted from a nozzle installed in the ceiling of the outpost housing him. It angered him but left his fur unharmed.

In Godzilla Dominion,, he was outmatched by Amhuluk, with the other Titan breaking one of his tusks before Godzilla intervened, which he later regenerated.

Behemoth battled the Titan Amhuluk when the latter wandered into his territory in the Amazon.

Amhuluk broke one of Behemoth's tusks and knocked him down before beginning to drag him away.

However, Godzilla soon arrived and attacked Amhuluk, convincing the creature that he was the alpha Titan and causing it to leave the area.

Behemoth then got back to his feet and wandered away.

Monarch prepared to terminate Behemoth when he responded to Ghidorah's call.

However, an agent named Mariko, who sympathized with the mission and believed Behemoth to be "the most interesting of the Titans," cut the power to the outpost's backup kill switch.

Behemoth quickly dispatched a group of soldiers and a nozzle emitting blue-white fire before breaking out of the facility, killing Mariko in the process.

From there, his role in the novelization is the same as in the film.

Behemoth is the only monster created, who has received licensed toy figures.

One of the behemoths in the upcoming Skydance Interactive video game Behemoth appears to strongly resemble the MonsterVerse Behemoth.

SPECULATION:

IF THE TWO BEHEMOTHS FOUGHT

There is quite a size difference between these two, as Monsterverse Titan Behemoth is about 385 feet tall, while the MIST's Behemoth is just about 240 feet tall.

That is about 145 feet difference, having Titan Behemoth bigger than its Todash Space competitor.

Of course there is a chance that an even bigger MIST Behemoth may exists, but the same could be said for Titan Behemoth.

Both are fairly slow-moving, but Titan Behemoth does have those huge ultra durable tusks, which could probably knock over the MIST version pretty fast.

However, the MIST Behemoth does have plenty of tentacles that it can use to latch on to its tusks to avoid a spill.

And, if those tendrils are indeed poisonous, the Titan can be in for a very nasty unexpected surprise.

The one thing however clear, is that the MIST Behemoth does have a wide mouth full of beak-like edges and needle-like inner teeth that could surely cause a nasty bite, even for the ultra durable skin of the Monsterverse Titan.

There would almost certainly be a fight between their small allies, as Leafwings flock around Titanus Behemoth, and these vicious Skull Island predators could give a pretty even match for both the Scorpion Flies and the Pterobuzzards from the MIST's Behemoth's own, hanging flocks.

THE MIST IN THE MONSTERVERSE

Godzilla and his ilk have fought plenty of tentacled monsters before, and with regular dealings with energy-spewing Titans, having to wrestle up inter-dimensional creatures that can shoot acid webs and blow clouds of toxic dust, would not be much of a stretch for them.

Still, there are smaller incarnations of Monsterverse kaiju including Godzilla 2000, who stands at only 170 feet, a clear challenge for the 240 foot MIST Behemoth.

But with atomic breath that could blow a whole in the very-MIST-like Kaiju Hedorah (the Smog Monster) it seems he would be the victor, unless the MIST's inter-dimensional kaiju are hiding more than just acid-web spitting spiders.

But just how would these two franchises meet?!

Well, very easily, as it appears that a dimensional porthole to the MIST realms could be opened anywhere - a seen by Project Arrowhead's incompetence in Maine.
