Description
FASOLASUCHUSHABITAT/MEDIA: Cretaceous period Earth 65 million years ago
MEDIA ORIGIN: The 2023 film "65".
In terms of speculative evolution...
Fasolasuchus is a large terrestrial crocodilian that via convergent evolution, evolved to appear very dinosaur-like.
They are Archosaurs that grow quite large, well over 50 feet long. It can also raise itself on its hind legs in some instances.
They may have been the apex of land-croc evolution, as far as size dominance.
Their large size would have most likely made them warm blooded, as they were not aquatic, and needed to hunt prey down like a mammal would, despite its crocodilian relations.
Crocs today are mostly cold-blooded due to their aquatic wait-and-ambush style of hunting, this was not the case for Fasolasuchus, who must have had to eat quite a lot to power its massive body.
FILM
65 is a bizarre blast, a film that embraces its central premise of throwing two futuristic survivors into the deep end by setting them against a veritable horde of dinosaurs.
The world around Mills (Adam Driver) and Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) is constantly trying to kill them, regardless of how little they do to actually deserve it.
In the process, the film reasserts a very clear view of dinosaurs -- they're scary, plain and simple.
REMARKS:
The new film highlights just how terrifying dinosaurs could have been, keeping the focus on the danger they pose to the film's two central characters.
It's a far cry from the way they're portrayed in other films, especially the Jurassic Park franchise.
Whereas that series of films balanced the threat posed by the creatures by highlighting their majestic qualities and the inherent potential and beauty of life, 65 leans fully into the idea that dinosaurs were horrifying monsters to encounter on any level.
