Description
A friend was wondering today how would a TIE Defender look with white solar panels like the TIE Fighters in the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' upcoming film, so I decided to do a quick retexture of a 3D model I had and show him. Of course, instead of just doing that small change I got carried away and tried to imitate the The Force Awakens look as much as I could and made the hull black and reflective, turned the cockpit into a mirror instead of transparent, and since the details were hard to appreciate in the blackness of space, I added a background landscape.Original 3D model by Staffan Norling: www.scifi3d.com/details.asp?in…

I'm not so sure that they didn't have them! The Incredible Cross Sections book for The Last Jedi mentions that the TIE Defender "was revived by First Order technicians who saw it as a versatile attack craft to throw at New Republic forces", and they incorporated many of its features in the Special Forces TIE Fighter and later the TIE Silencer…

I assume by E8 you mean E7… but they explicitly said the reasons to make it superficially similar to ANH, though. It was to recapture the feeling even though the story was different, which is no longer necessary after TFA, and they have already said that The Last Jedi will go a different way…

Judging by the TIE fighter designs, they could look very similar, with just some bits added here and there… But who knows! I guess we'll see if the First Order is reusing old fighters or manufacturing them with little change or what…

If I find the time I could try to retexture some other fighters, like I said in a comment below. If it's in www.scifi3d.com I probably have it and would be relatively easy.
Problem is, I'm quite busy these weeks! So I don't know when would it be done.
Also, I must say that I have almost zero practice when it comes to modeling, so it's much easier for me if it only involves a quick retexturing and rendering, really…
