Description

A male gailie model opening his wings, showing the dark underside, the gullet sac[where most of the oesophagus is while not in use] and the mirror[the eye-like markings on the chest, traditionally and still considered a window to the soul]. The black feathers are not iridescent, the mirror feathers are reflective.

The crest is closed, the oesophagus[blue] close to the neck and the rostrum inside the beak.

The fingers on the upper wings are feathered.

The nostrils are used for vocalization, their hearing range is between 200Hz and 50500Hz.

The tail feathers are not shown, including the ribbons.
