Description It's two of the internet's favorite things in one! Goats and pies!

While everyone expects good characters to come out of this multi-million dollar things like Space Wars (I think that's the title of that one Lucas film... Yep, Space Wars) or big-name game studios like Bethsda whatever or Activision, nobody really suspects that one guy and a couple thousands of dollars could create a quirky retro-Earthbound-esque JRPG that actually winds up flooding deviant art with fan art to the point that someone who's never played the game is willing to draw fanart of it, which is a shock because I suspected that I'd fall to the Fazbear craze before anything else (another game that I never played, but was saturated with enough exposure and info to theoretically create logical fan art)...

Yes, it's Undertale, and none other than leading female Toriel!

Apparently she's far too motherly here, but fanartists take what the limited graphics offer and expand upon that. Although to be fair, people probably would rather I draw her fat anyways... But then again, I HATE ROBES AND DRESSES, and this is probably the perfect character to show why I have such a problem with such clothing; it's the folds and creases.

If you were to see the original sketch, you'd notice that the arms are pretty normal and are bending in the right positions, but as you can see, her left arm's forearm looks too short because of how the sleeve folds over. Another issue is around the breast and crotch; I don't think the kind of dress she's wearing ever actually get caught under her boobs in that fashion even if she was as large as I depected her here; likewise if she was much skinnier the cloth would just go over the chest and not even touch anything else unless there was some fat or muscle along the way... Now you can see why I don't like such outfits; there's a lot of dynamics involved, and you can't see what the legs (or arms on some dresses and robes) are doing in order to check to see if I the artist know what I'm doing.

But outside of dress issues, I think this is an okay first attempt. May draw another character, but it will probably be a character that nobody likes. Remember, this picture is a result of fan art saturation, not from my own experience in playing the game. The only thing that's really stopped me from trying it out is that I don't have the money to spend on entertainment right now... Let's just say that for all the record breaking the latest Star Wars flick has done, I still haven't seen it...

YOU DREW GOAT MOM

I've had an interest in this game forever. I don't own it, (can't afford it) but I'm aware of most of the plot details and I've already found myself tempted to do a bit of fanart. Undyne and Alphys have been my personal favorites thus far.

I'll draw the whole goat family if people don't stop me...

People don't really seem to discuss the plot much (although I'm not afraid of spoilers), and from a game-development standpoint, nobody really takes it seriously due to it being a quirky indie game.

Besides, I needed to try to draw something else, although fatty Toriel may not be what some people wanted.

I won't even make an attempt to stop you. My love for the goat family almost parallels my obsession with the tall lesbian fish.

I've actually seen a lot of fascinating theories/discussions revolving around the different playthrough routes. Really, it's the character development that people are fascinated with (and rightfully so, as most of the cast is fairly complex). Most of the content you'll see featured most prominently is light-hearted though, because it does have a lot of humorous content and it is a generally "cute" game.

You'd be surprised at the amount of fat/erotic Toriel art there is out there. (I've never been partial to it, as I've been unable to shake the idea of her as a mother-figure)

Art trades I owe and school work will stop me though. Let alone my own artwork. Goat dad is next though, but seeing how obsessed with "fridges" I've become, it was inevitable.

Well, as I said, it's seems very similar to the Mother/Earthbound series, which also has a fairly light-heated and goofy appearance, but generally has a very complex (and somewhat dark) story and lots of development of the characters and world. Obviously, Undertale has its differences due to the pacifist mechanics, but still is worthy for discussion in a video game design field at a school, especially when innovation is in a low point. =/

And yes, I've seen some of the fat/erotic art of her... Kind of why I reacted with my own, which just presents her as a fat, motherly figure and not the artist's plaything (especially when the character was already involved with another character in the story).

Haha, I predicted he would be next. If not him, then Alphys, because she's a portly lizard... I, for one, like Asgore immensely. If you play the game or choose to go ahead and read up on the plot, you'll see that he's a rather complex character. I wouldn't really even call him a villain, at this point.

It was actually semi-inspired by Mother/Earthbound, if I remember correctly. Undertale is dark as well, particularly on the genocide route, although certain endings in the neutral route can be pretty bleak as well. And Undertale's pacifist mechanics are a pretty big selling point for me. I'm pretty into the whole "power of love" narrative where nobody is irredeemable and all that. Also, you might want to give the soundtrack a listen. I could direct you to a few of my favorite tracks, if you'd like.

I can see which aspects of her character would drive people to be attracted to her, but I can't get into it myself. I've seen some erotic content that was actually done quite tastefully. I just can't bring myself to characterize her as anything but a mom myself, though. I like what you did here, with her being simply large and friendly. My only complaint is how the fabric fits her chest. I have my doubts that any robe would individually envelope each boob.

I'm rather predictable. And apparently full of bad puns as well.

As for the robe, well if didn't try to draw so much around her boobs, it probably wouldn't look like it the robe was going under the boobs.

Bad puns? If that's the case, then you would certainly like Sans.

It would only go under if there was actually a drawstring beneath her bust (which is common in shirts). Usually, the fabric still stretches across the chest instead of cradling each boob individually.

Oh yes... I'm quite well aware of him.

As for the robe, I guess I should just practice more.

Hah. Funny how Undertale made people form attachments to the two most hated fonts in the world.

What helps me is observing how other people fit into their clothes, but you might want to be discreet about it.

Indeed... The fact is that you shouldn't even mention just one of the fonts at school, but to have the nerve to say both fonts in the same sentence is proof that one is indeed, a bonehead...
