Description
If you're tired of the left shark, you could always visit the fridge shark. Maybe that's why Clera never wants to leave him alone.Out of all the self-inserts (Dragon, Horse, Incubus, Pokemon, and some other things), Arthur Monterey is the easiest to draw because he doesn't have so many extra features. But since they all share the same "fridge" body, it's a good character to practice trying to perfect the bulk... Which judging by the legs and chest, are probably not perfect yet.

Well, he certainly looks like the right shark to me.
I'd make his left leg bigger, though, considering it's supposed to be closer to the viewer.

Yeah, it kind of looks small.
I know it's probably stupid to be drawing the same thing over and over again from different angles, but that's what essentially I'm doing with all my characters.

That's actually a good practice. Angles are pretty important to get down. I still have a lot of problems with certain perspectives on faces/bodies.

Depends though; not everyone likes repetition in galleries.

Practice is practice. The need to repeat an action in order to better yourself is unavoidable. Personal improvement is the main goal, dazzling everyone with something new and exciting is secondary, and honestly it's not even something you're obligated to do.

Except when the audience will expect you to draw something else... Thus if I don't try to find at least a new way to present something, I'm going to annoy people with what is essentially mounting up to be glorified pose studies, color tests, and lighting experiments.

That really only applies to people who refuse to draw different subject matter because it falls outside their area of interest, or because they're too comfortable drawing one specific thing. Drawing the same thing because you have an actual need to develop your skills in that particular area is a different matter. And again, your personal improvement comes first. At no point did you sign a contract with the entire internet promising to keep them constantly entertained.

True, I never signed a contract with the internet to keep them entertained.
HOWEVER, I don't think anyone would be interested in being swamped with some 15 pictures of Helena or 20 pictures of my incubus, no matter how varied the poses and angles, simply because it's repetitive and nobody wants to see a single character over and over again in one setting. Giving people constant variety (or attempting to do that) helps keep the "subject fatigue" from becoming a problem.
I can sketch and draw it all on my own to my little heart's content though... It's just when I dump my artwork is when there's problems.

That's why you have a scrapbook. Watchers who are actually interested in seeing your practice sketches and WIP will usually watch your scraps, and they'll get to look over that stuff if it actually appeals to them. Watchers who only want to see your best of/finished work usually won't watch your scraps, so they don't even have to go to the trouble to clear it out of their deviation stacks. That's the magic of having categories.
I, for one, always dump my sketches one way or another, because most of them are practices, and I'm hoping someone might give me a pointer or two.
Although if you're worried about that, simply find a way to work the things you need to practice into a different subject matter.
