He nodded quietly. "Okay...maybe...I can visit."
Ms. Allen didn't mention the fact that it wasn't very likely at all. It was far...and his real father probably wanted to destroy any evidence and bonds between them and the boy.
"...any last gifts or words?" she asked gently.
(maybe Finn gave him something to remember him by...a necklace? That was his size and for his birthday, but since the party wasn't happening anymore...)

Finn brightened. "Oh, wait a second..." He said, heading out of the room, coming back with a small box. "...kiddo...you can choose to open it now or later...but...I think you'll like it either way...and in your bag is a package from Colby and Riley...don't open that until your birthday, though..."

Trevor perked, accepting the little gift. He decided to wait, holding onto it, but was a little excited. "Okay." he nodded, feeling a little better.
The giant, at Ms. Allen's word started outside where he put them down to walk to the car. A car similar to that he had arrived in. He looked back to his dad sadly, eyes wide again. "W-wait..."
Ms. Allen gently took his hand but Trevor gasped, slipping free and taking off back towards the house. "Wait! No!"
Uh oh, not again.

Finn jolted, watching Trevor slip free. "T-Trevor!" He said, suddenly coming to a realization...a father's worst nightmare. If they took him...then he'd never see the boy again...he KNEW that...and he was still being stupid enough to let the boy go!? He'd rather go to jail! He started forward, but both Riley and Colby had to hold him back

Trevor didn't care, he just knew that if he got in that car, he'd never see his dad again. The dad that cared about him and loved him. A sudden arm scooped him up, carrying him back. Trevor fought him, reaching for Finn. "N-no! Dad! I don't wanna go, don't let them take me with them! Please!"
"Come on, sonny, you're making this harder than it needs to be."
The driver had retrieved him, the nine-year-old struggling. "Gah!" the child yelled as he was put carfully into the back of the car, the door immediately shut. His things were put in the back. All the humans filed inside Trevor could be seen in the window, looking back at them sadly, forced to sit down and buckle in as the car started away before he could try and bolt again. The kid completely broke down.

"Trevor!" Finn called, struggling in his friend's grips until the car started moving, then he let out a choked sob, collapsing on the ground and watching helplessly as the car drove off, sniffling as fresh tears poured down his cheeks. "...Trevor..." He said softly, closing his eyes
One of the adults looked over to the nine-year-old, sighing. "...sorry about this, kid...but...it IS the law...we can't resist it..."

Trevor was balled up, crying the whole way back. He didn't want to go...no, this was horrible. He knew he wanted to stay, yet he had no choice at all. No say. Because he was "too young" to make the decision for himself. Ms. Allen tried to comfort him, but he wasn't having it.

The man sighed, reaching over and rubbing the kid's back gently. "...it's okay...kid, if your real dad turns out unable to take care of you...you'll get to go back, alright? ...this might not be forever..."

Trevor leaned as far as he could get, not looking at him. "T-that w-was my d-dad!"

He sighed. "...yes, in a way...but...he's not your BIOLOGICAL dad..."

"He might as well be!" Trevor shouted, angry. "Don't ever say he isn't!"

"Leave me alone!" The kid said, completely shutting them out.

The man sighed, pulling back and shaking his head. "...why did we have to do this...?"

Ms. Allen sighed, gazing out of her window. "...we had no choice. Better us than the police. They wouldn't have even done what we had...simply taken him. They treated the giant as if he had kidnapped this child in court. If they only saw his deep their bond was already...they would have let him be. But apparently a human raised in a giant household was deemed unsafe...this boy was completely fine and safe where we left him. I'm not taking this or heartbroken child to that house. You'll be doin' it," she said with her Irish accent, folding her arms finally.

He grunted. "...deemed unsafe? If it was unsafe, we never would've GIVEN the kid to him in the first place...one of the guys had a freakin' BEAR, and that bear was completely tame!" He exclaimed. "...before biological parents claim their children from their new homes, we should have PROOF that the child is in danger before getting a court order! I didn't like it any better than you did...his dad was the one who persisted on getting him..."

"Doesn't help that he was friends with the judge." she scoffed. "All I know is that the father for sudden parental reasons wanted to be in the boy's life. I don't know if that's all there is to it or not.''
Out the window, it could be seen that they were entering the city again, the giant's place far behind them...miles.

He grunted. "...if he wanted to be in the kid's life, he could've taken it up with the giant now HOUSING him, not tearing him away from everything he's known the past year! That itself should be a crime!"

"Why are you yelling this to me?? I already know that. Go yell at the judge or the father himself! And...not in front of him." she sighed, looking to the child who was probably shaking in every word they were saying.

He sighed, looking down, his hands balling into fists. "...I used to be like him...I know what this is like..." He mumbled, reaching out and rubbing the kid's back. "...we will get him back home, though..."

"We both hope so." she nodded in agreement, looking out the window as they approached the orphanage and passed it. The man lived on the other side of town. But that was only a ten minute trip now.

He sighed, looking over to the kid, biting his lip. "...Trevor...look at me a second..."

Trevor at first didn't want to comply...but slowly he glanced at him.

He smiled weakly. "Hey...it'll be okay...if this thing with your real dad doesn't work out...you get to go back to Finn and the others..."

Trevor was staring pointedly out of the window. Hen...the car pulled to a stop. He tensed, gazing at the apartment building they'd stopped at. One of those that had two stories and a stoop outside...and there was a man in the window.

The man sighed, getting out of the car, reaching for Trevor's hand. "...come on."

Trevor didn't budge, staring down the man in the window until he vanished. Trevor gulped.

The man sighed. "...Trevor, come on..."

Trevor huffed. He got out of the car, ignoring the man's hand and slamming the door behind him.

He cringed, looking away, shoulders slumped. He understood why the child was upset...and he really kind of hoped that his real father turned out unfit to take care of him...so he could go back to the giant's home...

The door opened before the approached. The man standing there had short brown hair and a beard to match, but looked relatively tidy. He stood in a casual flannel shirt, an at-ease look on his face as he waited. "Hello, Trevor. Long time no see, buddy."
Trevor stared at him. Was he seriously acting like nothing had happened? Like this had just been a short absence??

The man glared coldly at the father. "...we brought you your son...I hope it was worth it...you should have seen the fight he put up...he didn't WANT to come...he was happy where he was. The giants were no better off." He growled at the man, helping Trevor get his bags

The man gave a sympathetic look. "I know. I'm terribly sorry for that. I couldn't find him until the headlines. Giant adopts human child. When...when I saw his name, I just knew it was my boy...his mother put him there, not me. She took him away and put him in one if those homes. I just...couldn't live with myself not to be in this boy's life when I knew where he was now."

He huffed. "...there was an easier way to go about this...instead of having gone through all the court trouble, you could have, oh I don't know, gotten into a car and drove a little ways to his new home? Visit him that way? You just had us tear him from everything he's known the past YEAR..."

The man looked down. "...that isn't being fair to me, you know.How was I supposed to know my boy was safe and happy? In the home of...some giant I don't even know?"

"...you could have VISITED. He was safe and happy, do you see a SCRATCH on him?!" He asked, gesturing towards Trevor. "...those giants were so careful with him...one of them had a bear, but the bear acted like a dog...there was no danger to him."

He looked horrified. "A bear?? Around Trevor?! Looks like I didn't get him a moment too soon!"

The man groaned. "Did you HEAR a word I said after 'bear'? The bear didn't attack him...it acted like a DOG. It didn't ever swipe or growl or ANYTHING. Plus, the giant that held the bear most of the time said he was toothless...when we were taking the kid, the bear licked his face like a dog would lick a kid who was upset...there was NO danger..."

His father frowned. "And the minute they would leave him alone...no. No way. I was even going to consider letting him visit...but thus is ridiculous. No, my boy is staying here with me where he belongs. I me rolling him in school first thing Monday morning."

The man frowned. "...it's what YOU want...think about what HE wants. He didn't want to come here, you know...he was perfectly fine where he was...there was always one of them watching him at all times, nothing would have happened..."

Trevor was staring down at his feet unhappily...and contemplating running, but he knew he wouldn't get far. His father simply sighed. "Please...come in."
