EDIT: Just changed Ninetail's eye so that he was actually looking at Amaterasu instead of random space. xDTHIS TOOK TOO LONG.
TOO STINKING LONG.
BAH.
I still love it though. There's probably some things that could've been done better, but I like it how it is. This is a remake of my older drawing from about a year ago, Fated Battle . I just got the pose ideas and had to make it. Especially since I don't entirely like the old picture anymore. Plus, the old picture was basically just the two in the poses given by official game art slapped together in one piece. Now that's good for practice and all, but I felt I really should learn how to put the characters into my own poses if I want to get far with the art.
A print of this will hopefully be on sale in the Art Show Room at Nan Desu Kan 2012! If any of you guys are going to NDK, you should check it out! [Starting Bid price yet to be determined].
It will also be a signed version (signed digitally), so you know, it'll be awesome and all.

There are two things I like about this picture more than any other depictions that I've seen of the Ammy vs. Ninetails battle thus far: one sort of minor one is that this seems like one of the best sizes used for both characters (I've imagined Ninetails as a bit larger than this for an Okami fanfic that I'm working on, but only because he absorbed what was left of Yami's dark power for the purpose of making his return a bigger deal than it normally would be).
The second is that I don't think I've ever seen a depiction of this battle in real-time, in the sense that there are multiple attacks from both Amaterasu and Ninetails being executed at the same time. That's one thing that I really think there needs to be more of in Okami fan-art: making the fights look a lot more organic. Great to finally see one picture do so :3

Heck, I may try to commish you when I get some cash; my Okami fanfic that I'm working on (involving the aforementioned return of Ninetails) has two alternate looks that he's going to have. One artist is working on his later form, but they said that they wouldn't be able to do his first alternate form because it would likely require more digital use, which they never really use xD

lol, well it's still very much a WIP (while I have the idea for how his second form is going to come to be a reality, it's still very far off in the story), but I think sta.sh allows writing now. I could possibly copy what's written down thus far and note you a link to it in sta.sh, since you'd be the only one able to see it then

lol, the thing there is that it's actually being made via an RP, with myself playing the returning Ninetails and a friend playing Ammy, though we also take on the roles of more minor characters. So it's a collab fic and is still only in its opening moments despite being 16 pages long in MS Word, therefore it's going to likely be quite a while until it's truly complete XD

XD No worries. I have a story that's just getting to the near part of completion, and it's currently 70 pages long on MS Word, with 12 point font and 1 point spacing. But that really sounds like it'll come out real nicely.
