Sophia's boyfriend Gerald has been a sympathetic ear to her ever since she transformed. The poor gal explained the location of the magic totem in the swamps, and how the transformation took place. Gerald, being a bit of a scholar on the more recent appearence of magic in the world, decides the totem must have been a ritualistic artifact used to help fulfill a prophecy.

The ancient people who designed the site must have intended to transform someone to be a harbinger of death for outside invaders. Satisfied with his theory, Gerald decided to go investigate the site and see if there was anyway to undo the curse. He left a message for Sophia when she was away, and departed for the site.

Sophia discovered Gerald's note, and went racing after him. It is a dangerous swamp, after all, no telling what other beasties could be running around. She was hot on his trail, but about 5 minutes behind him. She arrives to discover the totem apparently isn't a one-time deal.

Gerald is shocked by his transformation and tries to gather himself as both his heads look at each other. Poor Sophia is left in shock as her boyfriend deals with the post-TF trauma, and she remembers her own discomfort with the process. After getting a hold of himself, Gerald and Sophia investigate the ruins and are able to interpret the markings tell that the totem is intended to create an entire army of drider beings to go forth and conquer. Turns out the creators intended to transform loyal members of their tribe that would willingly wreak havoc on their enemies, so there's no transformation of personality to go with the ceremony. Who you were before becoming a drider is who you remain afterward.

Gerald and Sophia are going to have to warn others about the area, and Sophia, who has a week or so headstart on Gerald, will need to help show him the ropes of his new body.
