Are you.....Are you CRYING?" "..." "Well, yeeeeah. I know i am too. But I already know I feel other emotions besides a blank stare an a glare. This is character development! I find it really funny and cute they both watch the same shows.
I recall hearing, that in the US the tv-stations would show all the soaps during the day, and that there was this concept of 'day-time-television'. So it would make sense Perry would have gotten hooked to that kind of stuff, since the day would probably be usually the only time when he was home alone and could watch tv.
And the same would go for Dr.D to a lesser extent, since he'd be usually at home during the day.
Although I don't know if that's the case anymore, since there probably are so many tv-channels now you could see all kinds of shows all the time.

Well, in a sense it's both. On the main public channels that you can get without having cable or satellite, or us being FOX ABC and NBC, they play soap operas and odd talk shows through-out the day. If you don't have cable, which I didn't for YEARS, that's all you have during the day unless you switch over to the educational channel. That one had cartoons all day that are aimed for 5 year olds....
I always chose the cartoons over the soaps. Because....Soaps made me feel like was losing brain cells. XD
With cable though, you have hundreds of possibilities. Though, you can argue that Perry might have been hooked on Soaps since a young age. Like if Linda used to be a stay at home mom, she might have watched them all during the day. And with Perry there at home...
Doof just has no real excuse. XD Unless he really only got hooked on them after he got that "new" tv.

I think I'm missing the point when I say that the idea of them holding a phone conversation is what amuses me most. Of course, if Doof's anything like several relatives of mine, then he does all the talking anyways.
It's a minor thing, but I love the way both you and Moonie draaaaw out certain words in text to emulate his speech patterns. It really makes it feel like Doof talking.
