How I went about making my first digital painting -> [link]It leaves out quite a lot of steps actually, but it gives a general overview.
I would welcome any wisdom you want to share with a noob on your favorite techniques and other ways to achieve the effects in this painting. I did this without doing research on technique ahead of time, which led to plenty of hair tearing moments.

I'm still in awe when I see such things; I'm a complete failure at realistic drawing; pencil or digital (but I know that powerful Photoshop feeling, too

Honestly the way I see it is that I am doomed to draw realistically to the point of being incapable of casual creativity, or spontaneity.Β I would love to trade you skill sets!
