Yeah. Most of my friends refer to him as 'stick in the mud', or worse. The guy led the X-Men for years, and has defeated most of them (including the time where he did it without his powers!) He's recently gained some respect back, but I think they did it at the expense of his moral certitude.

In all honesty, I had a real tough time coming up with a suitable look for Cyclops. I had allowed years of others poor handling of the character to influence me. When i think of Cyclops these days it's generally someone with the full wait of expectancy on his shoulders, couple that with the "Slim" nickname, I kept coming up with a crap design and felt that this was not someone I found in anyway admirable. Then I realised that thanks to a number of comics, I had started to see Cyclops as a thin, whiny and depressive character. realising that I understood that I needed to find the Hero in him again, for me that was the key. yes he's a team leader and in those cases you don't have to be built like Superman but you do carry yourself a particular way and those around you may expect a great deal from you but they expect such a high standard because that's what you deliver! That, is Cyclops!

Sorry this took so long to respond to! In any case, yeah. Cyclops has been handled horribly by most writers, mainly because they try to concentrate on the Logan-Jean side of the triangle. It seems to me that these writers let Logan's perception of Cyclops (stick in the mud) become THEIR perception of him, but it looks like you've done well by him.
