A gift art for *CrypticStar , because she’s nice and deserves some love. This is her character, Alya. I sort of reinvented her costume but I tried to at least make it somewhat reminiscent of her usual outfit…there’s just a lot less of it now, heh.
…Hey, at least I put clothes on her! 
Oh yeah, the Celtic stuff in the backdrop was sort of because Alya has a Celtic-looking tattoo on her shoulder. I’ve drawn this character twice now and haven’t managed to get her in a position where it’d show off her tattoo. D’oh!
The pose was a recycled sketch from a previous commission. The pose was originally rejected because it looked too stiff. I liked it and thought it had potential though so I reworked the pose and changed a few things in an attempt to correct the issues it had. She still looks a bit stiff but not too awful bad. I’m happy with it at least. I seem to be slipping back into a bit of a toonish style though…d’ah well.

This is brilliant. I could see why you would think the pose looked a bit stiff, but I think it really works for this picture. The one thing I've noticed in every single one of your pictures is the expressions on the faces capture the very essence of everything a drow should be. Confident, proud, shrewd, dark. It's shown particularly in this picture with the sultry, inviting pose, and then that twisted grin that just screams that she's plotting something. Im really beginning to enjoy your work.

Well, ya did a wonderful job reworking the pose because she looks very, very fluid to me. 'Course I never saw what it looked like before either, so yeah.

Her back was really stiff before, and her shoulders too...and I didn't have that back hand or leg in the pic either. Curved her back some, added the back leg and propped the hand on it (made sense for her shoulders to be squared then too). Added details and there you have it! ...Or something like that...

I agree, she looks like she is posing...normally that isn't a good thing but in this case I actually do think it works for the picture. She did look horribly stiff before touch ups though, so I'm glad I was able to tone that down some at least. Thanks!
