Can anyone tell I really want the Avatar DVD to come out...now?
I've been on a total Avatar kick recently, and I've long had the idea to do Danny as an Avatar and I finally got around to it! 
Basically the back story is that Danny signed up for the Avatar project, and he's now just waking up in his Avatar body for the first time. I would love to do some kind of fanfiction for this at some point, but I have no idea what plot to use without it being too similar to the story lol. But I know that he will have access to his powers, and one picture in the future will be his Avatar's ghost form, which will look so epically awesome...once I figure out what he'll look like
And I just have to say...this was incredibly difficult to do
Not only did I have to analyze millions of pictures of Na'vi to get the body/facial structures and coloring down, but it was really difficult to adapt it to the DP style. Usually I have no problems with it (e.g. the Harry Potter one I did earlier) but this time...it was really really difficult. The style is definitely better suited to a non color-blocking style 
Though the thing I spent the most time on was the background Oh my God...that was brutal 
I despise backgrounds on a good day, but this one was just so hard! The perspective's still off, and I have no idea how to fix it or to make it better So...this is just how it's gonna have to stay and you'll just have to make do with my horrible background 
Anywho, please don't look too much at the perspective...or the feet. Yeah...definitely don't look at the feet. Now I know why there are no stock photos of Danny's feet...because I have no idea how to do his feet in the DP style
So just...totally ignore them. I wanted to crop them out, but then it just looked really stupid because the cot is cut off halfway down it, and that just looked worse so...in they stayed. My only consolation is that the Na'vi's feet look weird to begin with 
Anywho, hope it's not too bad! It's at least something novel. I don't think there are any, if many, of Danny as an Avatar
And it's at least subsided the Avatar obsession for at least a little bit 
Oh, and no stealing my idea of drawing Phantom as a Na'vi!

Ah hahah! I was actually wondering when this was going to happen. There was no way you wouldn't make a cross over with these two themes, not with how much you love them both.
I have a suggestion for better managing perspective. Have you ever tried using the vanishing point technique? I'm sure you've heard of it at least, and it's easy experiment with for any kind of art style.

Yeah, it's definitely been in my head for awhile. I always had this image in my head, and then the one where Danny finds he has his ghost powers in his Avatar that would be useful for...well some big plot angle

Huge plot angle! That could open up a big freaking door of stuff! Now I'm trying to picture him in ghost form too...
Yep, that's the one. It's a good way to figure out how to line things up on the page. And with digital art it's even simpler. You just put the lines on it's own layer and when you're done laying things out you can delete or hide it.

My thought would be yes. I always thought that Danny's ghost powers had some genetic origin that allows his body to create and utilize ectoplasm. Since the Avatar is a combination of Na'vi and the person's DNA, the Avatar would still have the ghostly DNA and would still be able to produce ectoplasm and thus go ghost. So...in a long, drawn out answer, yes
