God I am so nervous putting this up I've got that whole 'it's never good enough' complex thing going on, which totally blows. But...anything else I want to do ends up looking like too much or is way beyond my photoshop special effects knowledge so...we're just going to stick with this

But yes, this is the first (hopefully finished) part of my DP Girls: Mythological Creatures Series. It's Jazz as the Unicorn, if you haven't figured that out And yes, the background was inspired by Kingdom Hearts. I originally had this whole circle arch thing planned but I was fiddling around while playing Kingdom Hearts and this just popped into my head and...stuck. And then I started playing around with it and loved it so it stuck even more

Anywho, for anyone who's curious about all the symbology going on, here's just a little list of my reasons for all of it:

Unicorn - the unicorn is a medieval symbol of wisdom and purity and would traditionally only appear to virgin girls with pure hearts. Jazz is wise and always has had, to me, that pure and innocent feel.
Flowing dress - ethereal quality
Sash - sashes at graduation represent exceptional knowledge and wisdom
Solomon's Knot - a symbol of wisdom
Fleur de Lis - symbol of purity
Horned headdress - for obvious reasons
Cross - in medieval times unicorns were perceived as symbols for Jesus, hence their appearance to only virgin girls, which represents Mary
Colors - white for purity, silver and light blue for again that ethereal quality
Position of Totem - pensive in an almost judgmental way, as if she's weighing its importance

A bit of clarification on the whole "position of totem" thing. I decided to take this to another, more psychological level, in which each girl has a certain position in regards to her 'totem', or in other words her creature symbol (aka the glowing unicorn in Jazz's right hand). The totem represents their definition for what they are and what they're like. For each of them, the creature chosen for them best suits their personality and thus it in a way defines them. Their positions in regards to those totems, those definitions, show how they feel about it. For Jazz, she's thoughtfully weighing it out, trying to decide its importance, if it has any, willing to give it a chance before coming to a conclusion.

Yeah yeah, I think about stuff too much. Isn't that always what happens? But hey, this is a very symbolic piece. Everything I chose to include within it right down to the color scheme has some symbolic meaning to it. Anyone wondering yet why I changed to a Psych major?

Anywho, enough of an author's note! I'm going to stop prolonging the inevitable by continuing to type and just put it up. Expect a lot of changes to be made later depending on whether I continue to like it as much as I do right now...
