It is my entry for Drawn and Quartered Fan Edition online drawing competition many weeks ago, just want to share it with you here now.

The theme was to draw Scooby-Doo characters. I guess Velma series got aired around the same time. After got the theme I went into research and try to conjure up something. More I thought about it, I didn't think detective stories using magnifying glass and notes would still be relevant in the present day context so I conjured up an idea about the cyberpunk version of Scooby-Doo story. Since Scooby-Doo now is owned by Warner Bros. So I can assume this treatment would be similar to Batman Beyond.

So the story set in not too distant future where Daphne and Fred had married and had a daughter named Ruby Spears Jones (from the original creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears). As every pet dog we have, Scooby had died and this destroyed Shaggy very much. After Scooby's death Shaggy became a recluse, isolated himself away from his friends.

Life went on and Velma being a genius, involved in the development of robotic technology. Thankfully, Scooby's brain had been preserved not long after his death because of his merits and sweet memories. So a new robot SCB 2.0 or Scooby 2.0 was created. The project was a success, so all Mystery Inc. members, now including 11 year old Ruby came to Shaggy's house to surprise him with robot Scooby, hoping to make Shaggy happy again.

But, it turned out that Shaggy's house was empty. Everyone was disheartened except Ruby who was inspired by adventure stories told by her parents and still had a hope that she could find Uncle Shaggy. Fred and Daphne rejected this idea but Velma didn't. Velma was discreetly willing to support Ruby from afar behind the screens and let Ruby and Scooby go on the adventure.

Ruby now used her cellphone to take pictures, store data, analyze samples or consult to Velma while Scooby now a robot was equipped with many cool stuff like rockets, lasers, and ability to transform to a jet board for Ruby to ride on. Ruby and Scooby searched for clues to where Shaggy was and then after much searching and avoiding obstacles along the way they would find secrets about the city deeper than they had imagined.

That was as far as I had thought. I gave it the title "Code 404" from the lyrics "Scooby Doo be Doo where are you..." meaning that something is missing and (the mystery) needs to be found. The modern equivalent of something missing as we know is HTTP 404.

So, this version of Scooby-Doo will simply be a cyberpunk Scooby-Doo story mixed with Digimon/Pokemon and Inspector Gadget.

I just thought it would be cool.
