He was an excitable young fellow, a sub-adult, there were so many elephants here, I have a lot of wider shots, but finding something special in them takes time

I was using a fairly long lens, so not really threatening, he was having fun

Β  Except for the mud I would happily join him today! About 40 here and no air con!

Not much cooler here, around 33, but yeah, they like the mud

The news just let me know it's still 37 out there - at 6pm! More to come tomorrow - I'm in Sydney - and worse summer on record apparently. The birds have certainly been enjoying my bird baths!

I'm a little bit up the coast in Newcastle and yeah we have had some real horrid hot weather up here, I have a fan blowing on me trying to move the air, only have Ac out the back...and I bet they are

Haven't been up there for years but my memories of it were hot - except down by the water. I'm actually at Campbelltown, sth west of Sydney so no hope of a sea breeze here. I do have a little portable air con Ive been perched in front of since about 9:30 and it's reading 33 in here now. It will have fun trying to sleep tonight!

I am pretty close to the coast, with a bit of forest around so it isn't as bad as it could be but yeah, have to sleep with a fan on.

I had some family that lived out that way and I can remember some pretty hot times out there yes these days when I visit Sydney, it's more around Padstow and Penshurst

A bit closer in to Sydney than me but probably not much better. Only good thing about going back to work tomorrow - AIR CON!

I was tempted to do that earlier. Have to brave outside now though - time to feed the birds and refresh their water - I'm sure they do appreciate it.

And it was still very hot out there! Makes my little portable air con feel real good! I've never seen the long billed corellas just standing there panting with their beaks wide open before!! Made for some interesting photos though

I had galahs a long time ago, had a big aviary in the back yard, I used to get the hose out when the majority of the heat was passed and let it spray into a section of the cage, they would get up on the ceiling and hang upside down and flap their wings like crazy in the water

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BGai In reply to Darth-Marlan [2017-02-05 10:02:35 +0000 UTC]

I did pick up the hose but they all flew away - silly galahs - and cockatoos - and corellas, pigeons and doves! I've seen the cockatoos do some very silly things in the trees when it rains at the last place I lived but not here.
