A personality construct is any Aperture robot that you could have a conversation with. The turrets and the nanobot Jerry, and maybe even that creepy talking toilet fall under the umbrella of Personality Constructs.
For the metal balls that plug into various things in Aperture, they can be called any name composed of two of the following three attributes:
1. Computer-sounding words loke module or unit.
2. Mental words like personality or memory.
3. Any reference to the fact that they are essentially metal beachballs.
