Description
[Because it amuses the hell out of me to upload this. Is it not enough for me to traumatise Abaisse alone, that dA too must suffer?]LES AMIS DE L'ABC: THE GEEZER EDITION:
A Les Miserables Abomination!
In the beginning, there was The Picture of Les Amis de l'ABC 1. And verily, it did offend the Fans, because it portrayed a group of vivacious young men as a bunch of doddering old fools, and their chief (described many times as angelically beautiful) as a badly-aged, knuckle-walking simian lacking in the head hair department.
Thus, it came to be that ~ColonelDespard redrew the image as how it should have been , and it was good. And the Fans saw it, and lo, the image pleased their eye.
And thus, ~HistoryKnightLS was inspired to make an allegorical version of The Picture (image pending). And lo, a new meme was started to remake The Picture in the artists' own image. And then HistoryKnightLS did ask DarthFar, "Are you planning to do one also?"
And so a seed of evil was sown. For DarthFar, being of Unwholesomely Wicked Disposition, saw fit not to improve upon the original image, but to intentionally murder the picture by making it even worse than it originally was.
And somewhere in the Pantheon, the remains of Victor Hugo are spinning...
----------------------------------------
Apologies to all Les Mis fans!
Because I have quite possibly --hopefully-- mangled the picture beyond all recognition, here are some notes. In no particular order:]
NOTES
1 From the 1862 illustrated edition , translated by Isabel Hapgood.
2 A group of street villains in Les Miserables, consisting of Montparnasse, Claquesous, Babet, and Gueulemer, associated with M. Thenardier.
3 Hugo based Combeferre's character upon Camille Desmoulins, anyway. And in the original draft, he was described as "the furious one"...
4 Not that I don't already draw Courfeyrac fat, to begin with.
0.5mm Medallion technical drawing pen and Caran d'Ache vandyck brown colour pencil.
Les Miserables written by Victor Hugo.
Force knows who the hell drew the original Les Amis picture.

My God. This is wonderful. The best part is how well you imitated the style-- it fits right in. If someone slipped this into an old copy of Les Mis I would do a massive double-take.

Thank you very much! And yeah, I wanted it to look as much like the original style as possible because it would be funnier that way.

 Only you would try to make it worse. The sketchy quality here is brilliant. Gorgeous use of cross-hatching.

Because I'm me, Occy. Have you ever seen me trying to make things better, when I could have more fun ruining it??
And thanks!

roflmao! This is great! I just saw 's version and you were noted...and I had already seen 's version and loved it...so I had to follow the link.
Love yours! It's excellent.
On another note, how have Les Mis fans not hunted down the original artist already? How has that not happened?

This is really your specialty. Amusing and great looking (the artwork, not neccessarily the gentlemen).

Is awesomeness incarnate! I just have the uncomfortable feeling that if it had been published in one of the Les Mis books as an illustration, no one would have batted an eye, given the existing standards with a few rare exceptions.
I love Jehan's tailcoat! I want one!

If I didn't have so many legitimate statements beginning with "If I..." and ending with "I would be all over this meme"...I would be all over this meme.

Yeah well, in this case, growing long hair isn't exactly fashionable if you're pushing 50?60? and have lost more than half of the hair on your head.
