Description
Well hell, I figure if I can build this, then I can build that character Virus-Leach was asking me about. At least the armor part, still not sure about the face. This is all I have so far, the armor is next

Yeah, that is definitely Darth Krayt's helm/mask. It actually looks incredibly menacing on its own, surrounded by the black void.
Sometimes it is just the helmet itself that gives the character their reputation, their mystique, their strength and their psychological edge. It reminds me of the Boba Fett trilogy of novels, which start halfway through Return Of The Jedi, when Fett blows up the Sarlacc, manages to crawl out onto the desert surface and is found by Dengar, another bounty hunter. Dengar helps him back to health. While Fett is slowly recovering and without going into too much detail about the story (and my mind is a little hazy about it as I read the books a few years ago), there is another character by the name of Neelah who gets to see his face while he is lying there, in shelter and asleep/passed out.
She says to Dengar, "This is Boba Fett?"
Not many have ever seen his face but she is unimpressed, because she has heard so much about Fett and this person before her looks so average and unremarkable.
Dengar responds by holding up Fett's distinct helmet with the T-shaped visor and says, "No. *This* is Boba Fett."
While I can't remember the exact wording, I always like that bit because it shows just how much your reputation and your masked look can precede you. I guess it is no different to a lot of heroes, anti-heroes and villains in the media, over the various generations. Sometimes what they wear creates such an impression of them that the outfit alone assumes a personality all by itself.

That's definitely true. You basically become the mask, that's why I thought 'what better way to announce that I was working on Krayt's character then to just render the mask against a black background'. Sort of like a movie preview. Gives it an ominous anticipation.
It's one of the reasons I never show any pictures of myself (they are out there though if you know where to look). To the internet world I'm just a green bastardized version of the laughing man logo, and THAT is darthhell
The bummer part is we all know what Boba Fett looks like now
I think the only unmasking that wasn't disappointing was Darth Vader, for some reason it was so perfect in it's character contrast. I don't think it could have been any other way.

What a great analysis! I have to agree, especially in the case of the mandalorians, the mask means a lot. I don't see that there's anything more to say that would add to your points.

Darth Krayt? He's badass, I really liked him both as A'sharad and Krayt.

Darth Krayt
So, will there be him and Darth Talon doing some "Sith business" in future art?
