No, I wish!! It was taken at a WWII display at an airshow I attended a couple of years ago.

Yep. You're right....apologies. My gun lingo apparently need a lot of brushing up. I've heard a lot of people call magazines 'clips' and apparently it's rubbed off on me...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

jmullis [2007-10-23 00:36:04 +0000 UTC]

Dude...clip and magazine mean the same thing. Clip is just more of a 'slang' term. Look it up, some people say enbloc mag. Some say clip...

KravinMorhead In reply to jmullis [2007-10-27 07:15:26 +0000 UTC]

No, clip and magazine do not mean the same thing, unless you're uninformed in firearms (Which is one major annoyance I have with the media every time the issue of guns are raised in the news)...

In simplistic terms, a clip is what you could use to put the ammunition inside a magazine...A clip is a device that holds a number of rounds of ammunition together as a unit...A magazine is used both as a method of ammunition storage and a feeding device within or attached to a firearm...

Clips, for example...Revolvers can use moon clips, which can speed load cartridges into the chambers all at once, as opposed to inserting them in one-by-one by hand...The M1 Garand used an en-bloc clip to both hold together and load the ammunition inside the rifle...

Magazines, for example...The M14 rifle uses detachable box magazines, as do the AR-15 design assault rifles, the Kalashnikova, semi-automatic self-loading pistols, and so on...Many bolt-action rifles use internal box magazines, as does the M1 Garand...

The M1 Garand uses an en-bloc clip to load the ammunition inside it's internal box magazine...

Understand? Don't confuse clip and magazine as like terms; I'm doing this to inform you, and to keep you from looking like an idiot, because slang or not, using it won't make you look intellectual in the face of people who don't use slang...

Also, I know that magazines have a spring loaded follower that pushes the rounds upward where they can beΒ
stripped of by the bolt and fed into the chamber like in the M-14 magazine. MikeZ.

haha, I like the composition... I think a little bit of PP could take this image a long ways... put your skills to the test and lets get this image outstanding!

darthpayback In reply to NL2377 [2006-08-22 13:11:04 +0000 UTC]

LOL I already did some post-processing work! I backed off a bit from what I had done because the image got too dark.

You're a tough customer. What suggestions do you have?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NL2377 In reply to darthpayback [2006-08-22 16:15:25 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well... since you asked: I'd got for a little vingetting, as well as some adjustments in curves and saturation adjustments. I'm envisioning something like that from the WWII era, w/ a slight sepia toning, yet allowing the saturated colors to still be prevelent.

I guess sometimes I am a tough customer

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NL2377 In reply to darthpayback [2006-08-24 13:18:21 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well when I looked at it again a few hours ago, i liked it more then I originally thought... I am on a laptop, so if the screen was shifted just slightly, it could have thrown off the colors quite a bit, and most everything i said previously could be taken w/ a grain of salt.
