Flaring Beacon is extremely lucky to have two wonderful parents. His mother is the Element of Redemption; his father, the Captain of the Canterlot Guard. He even has a Princess as a godmother. All three played a part in the final defeat of King Somrba. This kid doesn't let these facts stuff his head too much, though. He's just not the type to go showing off, but he will defend his parents' honor if need be.

Like his mom, Flare is at the top of his class in the School for Gifted Unicorns. Not only does he get every answer right and practice his spells hard, but he shows a very pleasant conduct. On weekends, his father will take him to Canterlot Castle for basic self-defense training. He can use his hoofs as well as his magic. That way, he can be better prepared in case any bullies or rivals attack either him or his friends.

Sometimes, Sunny will worry about Flare. She doesn't want her son to make the same mistakes she made as a teenager... or worse. However, she will always have her Flashy to share the burden and responsibility with. Together, they will protect Flare from the forces of evil and guide him toward the light path. And besides, he's about to become a big brother. That should teach him some fair measure of responsibility...
