For years now, after seeing Shadow first appear in Sonic Boom, I have entertained the thought on how Sam Witwer would do him justice. After hearing him voice Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels and Solo, even seeing him perform in the Force Unleashed games and a few live-action TV shows, he'd be too good to pass up in the SEGA world.

When Shadow attends the Team Eggman meeting in "It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog", everyone else seems to respectively give him a wide birth; he makes even Dr. Eggman approach him with some trepidation. Maybe inviting him wasn't such a good idea…?

It's very similar to Viceroy Nute Gunray and other Neimoidians walking on eggshells as they converse with the Sith in The Phantom Menace. Contacting Darth Sidious via hologram is distressing enough, but to have Maul join them on his behalf on Naboo? Yeah, that's a bargain they should never have gotten into…

All in all, Shadow and Maul treated their respective colleagues/underlings with outright contempt. At least Maul stayed to work with them, mostly on his master's orders.

Now, if Idris Elba gave Knuckles the Echidna a gruff and dominating voice, Sam Witwer ought to provide Shadow the mixture of coldness and ferocity. If Knuckles was Savage Opress, Shadow will be Maul. That's how I picture it'll be in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
