Ladies and Gentlemen! I give you... Erik's Nose Part 2. Thought it'd never come? HA!
No, really... forgive my laziness regarding this short comic that could've been finished much, much earlier (it's only two pages long, by gosh!)

Yes, thank you! I always thought this too! Don't get me wrong, I love Susan Kay's novel, but just because he supposedly didn't have a nose, doesn't mean that he wouldn't be able to smell, or have a runny nose. In fact, he'd probably REALLY have a runny nose when sick! Ewwy. . .
And I like how you made it look like Erik was disappearing at the bottom! I love his little cape swish!Β Β

I know! And you know what really peeves me? When people draw Erik's face without lips... -_-" I mean, I know he looks like a corpse... But you would NOT be able to SPEAK, to form words, much less be an Angel of Music without LIPS.
Plus, it'd be impossible to kiss....
Much less sing anything. Really, try talking without using your lips at all.
*indignant sniff* I thought so. You see? Pardon me the morbidity of such things, but I really hate it when people do that.
Anyway, thanks for clearing the air about the nose issue. If it wasn't so dang macabre a detail (and if I had any idea at all how to scan anything into the computer, or draw, for that matter) I would clear up the cockamamie ignorance concerning the Opera Ghost's mouth.

That's a good point. In the book it says something about him having very thin lips. I just picture something akin to Tom Hiddleston's lips. Seriously don't have to take it so far as to NOT give him lips.
Well, that's reason #58 that Tom Hiddleston should play Erik someday.

well that sums it up. Erik can smell. So the exterior cartilage is not important heavily. That said, it's also important to have the inner parts that make the nose in order to sing well also.

The outter cartilage only helps filter air,and warm it with moisture as to not cause drying out of mucus membranes and dehydration.

*sigh* i guess it's a complicated topic. Basically, the absence of an external nose, doesn't mean the smell glands (and mucus glands) don't go deeper than that. Erik can smell and blow his nose just fine. So he DOES need tissues.

I kind of understood this. But I liked how you explained it. I have no sense of smell, but I still have a nose, so I figured that just because Erik doesn't have a nose he should still be able to smell and such.
