  Jingle Jingle

    Nizana’s ears flicked towards the strange noise, her head lifting from where she’d been grazing. Glancing over, she saw Akane still eating. Thinking she had imagined it, Nizana returned to nibbling the tender grass once more - only to hear the sound again, this time much closer.

  JINGLE JINGLE

    Akane’s head came up at this, the same confused look on her face as well. It only took the sisters a moment to realize where the sound was coming from, as Asher pranced into view carrying something in his mouth.

    “Asher? What is that?” Akane asked, moving over to inspect it in case it was dangerous.

    “I dun ‘noow? I ‘oun it o’er der!” Was his muffled reply, jerking his head towards the direction he’d come from. On the edge of the trees, the horses could just make out one of the colourful, flimsy, small human dens.

    “Asher! What have I told you about going near the two-leggeds?!” Akane scolded her son, ears back. Really, she was just scared of what could have happened to him had there been any humans around at the time he was investigating the den.

    Asher’s ears drooped and he dropped his plaything so he could reply, “That they can be bad and take horses away…”

    “Exactly. Now come on, let’s get out of here before they come back to their den.” Akane said, nipping her colt to get him moving. Nizana followed along behind them, casting one more glance back at the tent. She swore she saw the face of a human peeking out from it, the sight causing her to pick up the pace.
