Here's a pet survey featuring my Mildred!

What is your pet’s name? Mildred.

How did you come up with the name, does it have any specific significance? It's a name I think is really cute for a pet, to have like a little old lady, old-fashioned "human" name! I'm not one to use names twice, but I did have many hamsters in my childhood and I named one of them Mildred, it's just so cute for a pet, I had to use it again for my kitty lol. Incidentally, "Mildred" is the words "mild" and "red" together, which could be a way to describe the color orange, which is her fur color, mild red! The name also means "mild strength" or "gentle strength" which is so her.

How old is your pet? She turned 8 in September. :,)

How did you get your pet? My landlord's son's cat had kittens.

When did you get your pet? I adopted her as a kitten on October 31, 2014, Halloween. I will give credit to my then-bf because I wanted a fluffy cat, and when I picked up Mildred, she was so scared (there was a young child at the house who I saw bothering and "petting" the mommy cat harshly, so I assumed they did that to the kittens too), so I picked her up and she was scrambling to get out of my hands. So I let her down and she hid under a couch. My then-bf said, "Where'd it go?" I said, "Eh they're really scared, they went under the couch, I'm just gonna pick a different one..." He replied, "Well you wanted a fluffy one, that's the one you picked, go under there and get it!" So I was like okay fine... and I'm so glad I did. I knew she wanted to hide, she was scared, so I wanted to leave her be... but leaving her would have been so much worse. I know I'm giving her the best life she could have ever gotten, I was meant to have her. I saved her. No one else deserves her, no one else would love her the way I love her, spoil her the way I do, not hassle or pester her (except maybe when I try to get a photo with her LOL). I'm always thankful for my ex for telling me to go under the couch and grab her again, even though she was terrified. She is the reason I live.

What breed is your pet? Domestic long-hair orange tabby.

Does your pet have a nickname and what is it? Nut, widget, foxy girl, young one, kitten, baby pie, freak, mushy, squishy, squidgy, cozy girl, Pildred, Nutdred, silly Millie (I actually call her Mildred, not Millie, contrary to what many would assume). I call her nut a lot cuz when she's sitting, she just looks like a nut lol and she's also extremely nutty. XD

Does your pet sleep with you? YES every night! She sleeps above my head on my pillow, or next to my head on my pillow, off the pillow and next to me, or at the end of the bed near my feet (first one being most common). There is nothing better than waking up to her every morning, her staring at me LOL and purring, and only getting up once I get up. She is so therapeutic and calming. c:

How old were you when you got your pet? I had recently turned 23 in 2014.

Are you and your pet similar or different? Extremely similar. We're both quiet but can have loud moments (not loud as in meowing, she never annoys with meowing, more like just getting excited and being super silly and weird). We both love silence, quiet, peace. We both HATE loud noises and sudden noises. Also, she has long fur, I have long hair... even though my hair is medium-dark brown, in the sun it can have a reddish look or golden look, depending, and Mildred has orange fur... my eyes are green and Mildred's are gold/yellow or green depending on lighting. So those are somewhat similarities, more so than like a black or white short-haired pet with brown or blue eyes!

What is your pet's favorite food? Turkey gravy or chicken pâté with hot water mashed up into it to make it extra hot and juicy! She also loves Blue Buffalo crunchies as a treat, I call them cookies.

What is your pet’s favorite toy or game? Favorite toy, paws down, is a crumpled up receipt or ball of paper! XD Also, turbo scratcher ball toy, catnip mouse, feather toy, monster, and she loves watching bird and mouse videos on my laptop.

What is your favorite thing to do together? We love to just sit right next to each other, relaxing in peace. I love massaging her and scratching her. I love seeing how loud I can make her purrs. She is my shadow and follows me everywhere I go. She could be super cozy next to me, and 9/10 times if I get up she will get up too and follow me. She LOVES to watch me dance and cook and she loves when I sing, she'll start slow blinking hehe.

Do you go outdoors? If yes, where is your favorite place to go together? She does not go outdoors, but she often sits in front of the open window (with a screen) to watch cat TV and smell the smells.

What is a bad habit that your pet has? Nothing bad about her!

What is the best thing about your pet? EVERYTHING!! I grew up with many different cats, and Mildred is by far the best cat in every aspect. She is sweet, friendly, tame, quiet, polite, patient, docile, funny, silly, just perfect. Her personality is how my dream cat is. I know everyone says their cat is the best, but she truly is, and I have lots of cats to compare her to. When I was first telling my current bf (of 1 1/2 years now) how perfect and funny Mildred is, he didn't really believe it until he met her and saw how she is -- because now he comments at least twice a week lol on how she's the best and so perfect, like with such a genuine tone to his voice. :,) Like the kind where he actually stops me and he's like I'm serious here, I MEAN it, she really is!! I'm like I KNOW! I TOLD YOU!! No one can really understand how precious and funny she is unless they spend time with her.

What is the funniest memory involving your pet? Way too many to type, every day she is so hilarious. But she's so polite too lol, she's not like the a-hole cat that is constantly running around and meowing and destroying the place which ends up a "funny story". She's funny in very good ways. XD

What is the best memory involving your pet? The day I adopted her, and every day after. I love her too much!!

What is the hardest thing about being a pet owner? Knowing that your time with them is limited.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a pet owner? The opportunity to give love, happiness, fun, and safety to a precious angel soul.

Have you ever taught your pet any tricks, if so, what? I am currently working with her using Fluent Pet buttons so she can press them to "speak" English. Currently, she has pressed her "cookie" button. XD :,) She also will start a biiiiiig stretch when I pick her up and say, "You wanna stretch?" or "Stretch" or "Stretch it out!" and she'll start doing it on her own, and other times, I start it for her and she completes the stretch. My favorite part is when she makes a little squeal and does one hard blink during the stretch. XD She knows many words like Mildred, eat, food (fuds), cookie, crunch a bunch, gravy, turkey, chicken, fresh water, rotation, come, stretch, brush, paper (she loves paper), catnip, circle toy, mousey, jump, up, down, plop, get cozy, litterboxy, birdy, I love you (she'll start slow blinking when I say this).
