November is National Native American Heritage Month in the US, so here are some of my indigenous characters from City of Heroes. In this case, City of Villains.

Reading about Native American religion, myth and folklore, I came across the chindi, which sound like especially scary ghosts. Seemed like a good fit for a villain, so here he is. It’s interesting that saying the name of an evil dead person is like calling on Candyman, drawing them to you.

Unlike other indigenous characters, I didn’t want to associate an evil spirit with a real person, so I made up a word that sounded creepy and gave it a suitably horror-story translation. No idea what a “blood horse” might be, but it sounds like bad news.
