Elissa isn't the strongest fighter at the beginning of Shades, so she asks Alistair to help her train more extensively.

It would probably go better for her if she learned to keep her mouth shut.

Well, he did just kick her ass. Makes him cocky, I guess. Of course, her being cocky is what got her in that position in the first place. It's like an endless cycle for those two.
