Description
Finally, the third scetch for the **scetch tag** ([link] ) is done.This one is for my lovely She came up with the idea of me drawing a picture of one of the most famous comic-characters in the world: The smart Gaul who beats the latin out of the Romans XD
I made him wearing the golden torque from Mailly-le-Camp

Update
The quiz was solved. The famous statue I used as a reference is the brillant Dying Gaul, a Roman marble copy of a Greek statue originally from the 3rd century BC, build for an altar in Pergamon, now exibited in the Musei Capitolini in Rome.

hahah omg he looks so groggy and down...like maybe he was drinking too much wine the night before? or the flipside, maybe he looks worn down from a fight 8C either way, the emotion in the expression and body language are very well done and having him placed on the platter is very interesting and makes me want to know more about the scene. great job ^^

Thank you. I concentrated a lot on the face, to give him the correct expression of grief and pain. Actually, he´s dying. Hence the title "Astérix mourant" - "The dying Asterix". Doesn´t fit the Asterix-world, but hey... Why not? ^^

He stays in his 40´s forever XD
The comic was first published in 1959. In terms of real life, that would make him 88 or 93 years old, depending on how old he is in the comics. That means: If he really had to live in the middle of the first century BC, he would be dead twice by now for the average (male) person didn´t grow older than 35-45 years. Which doesn´t mean that there weren´t older people; especially the wealthier part of population was able to reach higher ages (better and more food, less hard work, etc.).
