It wasn't the first time Lero would participate at an endurance/survival event
in the cold. Before settling down in Austria, he's spent the past years in Alaska,
finding also great joy in dog sleighing and entered a couple of events for that.
So he was extremely excited to try the same but still very different experience
on horseback. And also riding for a new stable already. GSR and WEC have
been partnering for years already, since being owned by people of the same
family. Lero was excited to move there with his horses after TWD.
Keith had grown so much on him. Their accidental bonding was nothing he had
expected and mainly the reason he decided to actually stay in Austria. While
he learned riding as a child early on and kept semi-actively doing it throughout
the years, Lero hasn't considered himself a horse person. But those Obertaurers
pretty much where just big dogs on hooves. Keith would always hold a special
place in his heart though. By now they shared such a strong bond of trust.
Kreyser was the newest addition to the team and the first horse Lero intentionally
bought. They just seemed to click right away. He actually had to correct himself
there. Not all Obertaurers were like dogs. This particular one was more like a
wolf and that's everything he loved about him. He was so relieable and had such
a healthy amount of confidence, that he was actually the one helping him most with:
Olvado. He has been such a problem child that kept him awake at many nights.
This stubborn and trust-broken stallion had needed so much mending, which
he wasn't sure he could provide. Lero wasn't sure if he would have managed to
get him to the point he was enough of a safe ride to even bring him to such a
challenging event. But Kreyser had enough confidence for the both of them,
which in the end helped the stallion to open his hard shell and let someone in.
Arriving at Hungary with all his boys – not to forget his dog Dasher – at his side,
Lero felt the anticipation growing, excited to see what the event would hold
in stock for them.
