The skuld's she-wolves had converged immediately, and no males were allowed to see her. Without explanation Enzo had been told to move into the main den. Prolonged silence bred rumors of illness among Fellfang's male population. Still, the females offered no answers.

He attempted to visit many times to barely catch a glipse of her, and was turned away all but once. The sound of Embla's voice calling out to him prompted her guardians to allow him through.

There she was, lying under the warm sunlight. Her eyes met his. For a moment, the world stood still.

"Enzo," she breathed, "look."

Directing his attention to her stomach, the contours of her swollen belly said it all.

Enzo was going to be a father.
