I came up with the idea of this back in March, which is sad because that was a long time ago, but anyways, here's the idea finally on paper.
The phrase "You are the epitome of ignorance. You do not even care about listening. That must be the reason why you wear those headphones. Take a good look at yourself!" is supposed to be what the two are trying to tell each other. But I wrote it so it could be read backwards... "Take a good look at yourself! You wear those headphones. That must be the reason why you do not even care about listening. You are the epitome of ignorance." ...as a way of mocking those in the drawing from a viewer's perspective because they're obviously hypocrites. And because I like laughing at my own stuff.
So each person thinks that the other doesn't want to listen and therefore wears headphones to help with ignoring, but actually, the other wears headphones because they don't care about another's opinion in the first place.
Okay, that's sort of the same thing...?
...That explanation sounded better in my head. It's hard for me to elaborate. But that's what this drawing is for.

Hey, a smart idea and a smart explanation, coming from someone who wouldn’t be caught dead without their headphones. I guess I’d much rather be in my own world where I can listen to music and forget about the world’s problems… since there’ll be plenty of time for that later.
I wouldn’t call myself the epitome of ignorance, but boy can I be pretty oblivious sometimes when someone needs my attention. The magic of noise-cancelling headphones...
Good work, and provocative in its own unique way. Keep it up.
