Now for the fun bit.
Drop the opacity of the red area down to around 80-85% to allow you to see your original lines.
This will help you decide where shadows should be.
Use a reasonably large burn brush (10px) with a low exposure (10%).
Start at the lightest part and stroke evenly.
Stroke again slightly closer to the darker parts to get a nice even gradient.
Do the same with dodge to lighten areas, such as the top of his head.
