Cat Pathway.

There's a shop cat (Oscar), who uses this passageway to enter and exit the store.

The small notice to the right of the passageway describes (in some detail) the saga of Shop Cat Oscar and Intruder Cat. Intruder Cat is an alien, younger cat that has found Oscar's entranceway and now makes himself at home in the store. He does this by virtue of the fact he bears a passing resemblance to Oscar, and most customers and staff don't notice a difference unless both cats are present.

In an effort to dissuade customers and staff from befriending Intruder Cat, a further, even lengthier notice is posted on the end of an adjacent bookshelf, detailing the appearance and habits of both cats and describing various encounters observed between the two cats, and between cats and staff.

Evidently, the Intruder Cat is a resident of a nearby warehouse, and makes his way through the alley at the back of the store, which is how he found the entranceway, I presume.
