Description Kardashev Type II
A reference to the theoretical Kardashev-scale,
a Type II-civilization is capable of harnessing al the power from one star.
A method of achieving this would be the construction of a Dyson Sphere.

This image is an attempt of mine to display a sphere during it's
construction-phase. Humanity has discovered how to turn
energy into matter according to E=mc². The first stage of construction proceeded slowly,
because the surface was not yet large enough to capture the energy required to synthesise
more raw material. At the current stage the surface is large enough to produce about 3 km² per hour.
The build rate is increasing exponentially, and so a complete automation was required.
The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2169, at which time the colonisation of the inner structure can begin. If successful the project will ensure an almost limitless power supply, and habitable area to relieve the much stressed planet Earth.

Info:
This was a long duration project. I started it around January 6th, 2 days before my exams started… go figure. So it progressed bit by bit. Every time I added a little more detail to the rings, adjusted the sun,...
I’m quite pleased with the result, but I don’t feel it’s “finished” yet, maybe because I’ve been working/ thinking about it for so long. I’ve had the idea for over a year. This is the first time I tried to make it.

very nicely done, although it would probably make more sense to transmute the other planets before generating mass from energy.

Interesting concept, I mean, we've all seem man-made rings around planets...But never stars before And it sure would be a great way to get energy...too bad such a thing would never happen in our lifetime

Freezing? yeah I think we can't do that yet either if so it would be way beyond the price that anyone but the worlds richest could afford.

Special metabolism-slowing drugs/DNA-changing medicines that can slow the aging process?

If we can do that now, I wonder why the average person never hears of them I suppose people living longer isn't a good idea until the world realizes that it should greatly slow down the reproduction rate first

of course i don't know exactly what you had in mind but it sure turned out awsome!!

try Google for "Dyson Sphere"

Thanks for the comment ^^

Good idea,

i have some familiarity with the concept. I'm guessing your picture is artistically inclined, since the spheres construct seems much to close to the sun. Also, the structure as it is shown would be horribly unstable, the most plausible 1st step in construction would be a ring around the solar equator, possibly even set spinning to counteract the attractive force of the sun.

The most logical way of constructing a Dyson-sphere would be to start from a shell-form, and making that collapse into a sphere.... but that's kind of hard to make

So yeah, it's artistic.

Thanks for the comment!
