Description
Earthforce's main escort ship in the first half of the 23rd Century, the Artemis-class was primarily armed with multiple railgun turrets. Although not jump-capable they proved capable during both the Dilgar and Minbari wars where their mix of plasma and projectile weaponry proved effective against even the Minbari Tinashi-class warfrigate. Production had ceased before the Earth-Minbari War and the Earth Department of Defence was not keen to restart production of a design whose main armament was ammunition-dependent. The few survivors were phased out post-war in favour of the smaller (and cheaper) Olympus-class corvette.
