Description
Designed for integration with the SALTS program, the Vercan class monitor vessel is an unmanned, non FTL equipped high speed in system interceptor ship to be used for purely defensive duties. While it is not equipped with a heavy FTL drive, it is as quick as a destoyer and is as heavily armed as a battleship with two large railguns, extensive missile bays, and a centrally mounted sensor array that runs the entire length of the ship.

Typically a half dozen or so of these ships are permanently stationed at larger stations, outposts, and other important locations to provide immediate response to pirates where it might take too long for an FTL equipped ship to arrive for backup.
