Description
The Nova-class succeeded the Hood-class as the Earth Alliance's line-of-battle ship in the mid-2220s. The design followed the basic design philosophy of Earthforce: pack as many guns and missile launchers onto a heavily-armoured hull as possible. To this end, the Nova-class mounted forty heavy plasma cannon, two immense energy mine launchers and seventy-two missile silos, in addition to her defence grid of e-web and close-in interceptors. To cap it all, she could carry three full squadrons of Starfuries or an entire Marine infantry battalion and their landing craft into action. The downside was that the class burned up deuterium fuel at an unbelievable rate, limiting time in action, and her lack of gravity meant that patrol was limited to a few months.
The class was first deployed in combat in 2231 during the Dilgar War, with their raw firepower outweighing the Dilgar's more advanced technology. Earthforce's philosophy came undone during the Earth-Minbari War when the Nova's sensors were incapable of penetrating Minbari active stealth. Although more than capable of putting up a fight when within visual range, Nova's were sliced to pieces by the weaponry of Shargotti- and Sharlin-class warcruisers while trying to get up close and personal.

The EAS Nemesis, seen above, was the ship responsible for destroying "Deathwalker" Jha'dur's command ship Vendetta during the Fifth Battle of Balos. During the Earth-Minbari War she survived several clashes over the course of two and a half years and was finally destroyed during the Battle of the Line, when the barely-functional ship was carved up within minutes.

I honestly love this design, the fugly functional iron brick is just great. I've not done a huge amount of work here, but other versions are on the horizon.
