Description
Intended to provide an area defence capability to the Yopurian fleet, the Vosper Mark 12 destroyer was essentially a stretched version of the Mark 10 frigate, developed to Yopurian requirements. The ships have a Sea Dart twin-arm launcher and magazine between the superstructure and main gun, associated Type 909 fire-control radars (that were also capable of guiding the point-defence Sea Flash) and a long-range Type 1022 radar set. Although capable of performing in the anti-air warfare role, the Stirling-class was very top-heavy, had poor sea-keeping in bad weather and was not popular with its crews.
