Description
The British forces first attempt at an automatic pistol, the .455 inch-calibre Webley SLP was brought into service around the outbreak of World War I. It wasn't a success and suffered some major reliability issues but was the Royal Flying Corps' standard sidearm. By the time World War II ticked around, it had been replaced in use with the Colt M1911 and further versions of the ubiquitous Webley revolver.
