this image is the most meaningful to me out of the set of portraits i did. I have been very depressed recently and its just been getting worse and worse. I seem to be feeling so alone and sad no matter what is going on and how i am with. This piece i feel captures how i feel.Related content

I am very sorry to be commenting twice, but in my initial emotion I forgot to mention that I really like the little pieces of white noise sprinkled throughout the full-view. It adds a sparkle, for one thing, but also the pin-points of light could almost imply that there IS light available, but it is as far away as the stars are from Earth.
That's just what came to my head, though.

I actually cried at seeing this, I'm not joking. The pose, the expression, the description... Everything in this screams at me in a language I can understand. Loneliness. Despondancy. Helplessness to change it. I know too well the feeling of being alone no matter who is around.
I have always enjoyed your photos, they have such meaning in them... but I think this is a new favorite because of how it speaks to me.
Hope your feelings can be spared more than mine.

i've seen alot of varaitosn on this picture taken by others and this is just so emo, has a great feel and soothing effect to it, thoguh you were depressed, the less you put into a picture, i feel the more you get out of it, anywya, love the pic's, yea all of yoru pics

Everyone that commented has said that you are not alone and I have to agree. The fact that you could put that bit out there shows that you want to get through it. I wish you the very best of luck. Although it might not be the most appealing idea, you might want to talk to your dr and see if you could be put on meds if it doesn't pass. A very close friend of mine and my mom are both on antidepressants and it has made all the difference for them and the people around them. I wish you the very best of luck!!
About the picture: I like that the shadows show the outline of your arms and your expression is very personal. Very nice as always.

this is a great shot.it reminds me a lot of "holding back tears" im sorry to hear about your sadness. in time it will disapear, like anything in life, it is usually just a passing phase..in light of this shot and the subject matter attatched. its getting +faved

nicely lit, the only problem for me is the white table, i think a black cover would have made the skin stand out nicely. however, its still a beautiful portrait

You actually look kind of bored in this pic...but maybe that's just me. I always love photos when they can capture a good expression. This has so much personality in it, even though it's very simple. Great work, as always!

If you don't mind, I'd like to know how you get your effects in your photos. Like the glow, smoothness, and contrasts in your pieces... Is it how you take your photos or how you edit them in photoshop... or is it all of that? A mini tutorial perhaps? You do such wonderful work...

Well on photos like these will turn off all the lights and have only one light source. then in photoshop i take the lightness down and bring up the contrast a bit. Till i get a good range of black and white. Then i usually throw on a defuse glow filter and add a border. Thats about it. and if i add color to a black and white image i either color it by hand on a new transparent layer or i take the original color image select the section i want to be in color and drag it into the black and white image, trimming the color i don't want off obviousy. So thats my secret! lol

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat. I'm the best actor because I hide everything well. So You look at me and i'm happy.. or at least wearing that mask.. Try and .. Well I don't know what advice to give.. just.. try and look at the brighter side? You have plenty of friends who love you, and whom you can talk to. I know this probably won't mean much coming from me seeing how i don't really know you that well. But i'm here if you need someone to talk to.

Yeah, I've been feeling pretty lonely, too. I'm not usually depressed, so it's a pretty foreign feeling for me. I think it's good that you're channeling it somewhere like art, as opposed to just internalizing it, leading to self-destruction. I'm pretty sure this is just one of those things that will pass with time.
Anyway, I think this piece is really cool. I'm a huge fan of folded arms (I don't know why, but they're fun to draw and stuff), so this photograph appeals to me. It would be cool to see what it'd look like with your eyes closed.
